Ingestion Of Cow's Milk In Early Infancy May Lead To Diabetes

Children fed cow's milk during the first 8 days of life are twice as likely to develop insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus [IDDM] as children who are not fed cow's milk during the first week of life.

This study suggests a causal link between early introduction to cow's milk and IDDM may exist, and that exclusive breast-feeding may play a protective role against this disease.
