Ostrich Now Available to You!

That protein is essential for your health is anything but news. What you may find startling, however, is that many Americans actually fall far short of their ideal daily intake of protein, especially active individuals. Most adults need 50-120 grams of protein per day, depending on gender, weight and activity level.

I am often asked to recommend my favorite sources of protein. As covered in my nutrition plan, I highly advocate certain meats in appropriate portions because the protein intake is superior to that from other sources such as beans and legumes. And so my answer is easy: along with eggs, I recommend ostrich meat for your protein needs. Not only is ostrich among the healthiest meats on earth, but it is among the best tasting and most versatile for recipes.

The Finest Ostrich -- at an Affordable Price

Ostrich was only relatively introduced en masse in the United States. Because I believe this meat is among the absolute best you can consume, I have devoted an extensive amount of time and research into finding a wholesaler who could meet my strict standards ... standards, some told me, that were impossibly strict. Various companies could only accommodate some of my requirements, and so it started to seem like the naysayers were right and I wouldn‘t be able to offer the meats I most recommend to you on the site.

But then I was introduced to a company called Blackwing, whose primary market has been five-star restaurants, and who met every one of my standards for both ostrich and bison:

  • Raised as free-range animals in an ecologically sound and humane manner, with vegetation as their prime forage and in the cleanest, healthiest conditions
  • Raised without any antibiotics, hormones, steroids or genetic manipulation
  • A wide variety of cuts available, for versatility in recipes
  • Prices as low or lower -- including the shipping costs -- than typically found in grocery and health food stores
  • Verifiable reputation for the highest quality ostrich available on the market

On that last point, the taste and freshness of Blackwing‘s meats are so superior that I now refuse to get mine anywhere else. Apparently, I‘m not the only one: Blackwing‘s ostrich is preferred by leading chefs across the nation; here in Chicago, for example, they are preferred by Chef Roland Liccioni of Les Nomades Restaurant -- Mr. Roland has been voted the top chef for ten straight years by the Restaurant Association of Chicago -- and by the well-known Chef Charlie Trotter of Charlie Trotters Restaurant, who has also earned multiple awards.

Omega-3 Ostrich!

But it gets more exciting. Roger Gerber, the innovative founder of Blackwing, did his research on my eating program and Mercola.com, and recognizing the synergies and the potential, agreed to:

  • Offer omega-3 Ostrich filets exclusively on Mercola.com; this omega-3 ostrich, from birds whose diets include flax seeds rich in the Omega-3 that most Americans seriously lack, cannot be found anywhere else in the U.S.!

The Healthiest, Tastiest, and Most Versatile Meats on Earth

Ostrich is a red meat high in protein and lower in fat, cholesterol and calories than beef, pork, and even skinless turkey and chicken! They are recommended by all the national health organizations, and are available here in a variety of cuts, from filleted to ground.

As for their taste, Blackwing‘s ostrich will remind you of the best prime beef. It should be prepared similar to beef, and can be used in any recipe that calls for beef, pork, lamb, turkey or chicken.

As ostrich are highly nutritious and delicious, I encourage you to read more about it . Of course, you can start by ordering the smallest portion sizes, as well!
