The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) is now using the Environmental Protection
Agency's (EPA) much lower recommendation of a safe level for
mercury in the human body.
Previously, the
FDAs safe level for mercury was four times higher than
the EPAs standard.
The FDA plans to
add more fish species to the list of fish to avoid if tests
reveal that a species tends to exceed the new safe level of
mercury.
