Research shows that 40 million Americans look at online dating
sites each month, and we are seeing a transformation in the
way people meet and build relationships with one another.
Back in the old days of dating, Americans had certain set
ways of how to be asked on a date. However, over the past
few decades the set ways of becoming steady with someone has
drastically changed. A new tool many Americans have found
to be very helpful for the dating scene is the Internet. Online
dating gives people the chance to scan millions of possible
partners in one day. Studies indicate that many people reveal
themselves more openly on the online dating sites than in
person so may have a much greater chance of being linked with
someone like yourself or who is similar to "your type."
Studies are also showing that Internet relationships survive
and are just as strong as relationships that started by meeting
in person.
