Cell Phones on Planes

American Airlines has implemented a "relaxed" cell phone policy that allows passengers to use their cell phones while the plane is on the ground. They are the first airline to offer such a policy.

Most airlines don’t allow cell phone use on the plane at all due to concerns that they could interfere with cockpit instruments. American Airlines reportedly conducted vigorous tests on cell-phone use on planes and has received approval from the Federal Aviation Adminiastration (FAA) for their new policy.

American Airlines passengers will now be allowed to use cell phones and two-way pagers on the plane before the door is shut for departure, and after landing while taxiing to the gate.

Dr. Mercola Dr. Mercola's Comments:

My favorite airline, American, has wisely decided to allow passengers to use their cell phones as long as the plane is on the ground. No more ridiculous restrictions of shutting the phone off as soon as you leave the gate or waiting until you reach the gate after the plane lands to make a call. This is especially infuriating when the plane arrives early and the gate isn't yet available, as seems to be the case nearly 50 percent of the time I arrive in Chicago. This policy could do wonders for reducing the stress levels of its passengers.

My hat's off to Amercian for a wise policy.
