I was surprised about your statement about Guaifenesin being worthless as a cough supressant.  This tends to make people believe that Guaifenesin is worthless for use for cough and colds.  Guaifenesin is NOT intended to be used as a cough supressant.  Guaifenesin is used to thin mucous from coughs so that it can be more easily coughed up.  Guaifenesin is an expectorant. Guaifenesin loosens phlegm and increases the lubrication of your lungs allowing for a productive cough and decreased chest congestion.

Reading Weston A Price, saliva is a good indicator of nutrition. Tastebuds can pick this up. I think you kiss to make sure that your partner has had optimum nutrition prior to conception. Dogs lick each other's mouths to see what they have eaten, to check that others in the pack haven't been secretly eating stuff, so, other mammals do the same. I doubt it has much to do with disease, because saliva is a natural anti-biotic.

This October MSNBC snippet really disturbed me.  The 'doctor' was extremely dismissive of vaccine concerns, calling them 'crazy' and 'ramped up'. She intimated that parents who don't vaccinate are putting the population at large at risk and said we are on the verge of 'another polio' epidemic.

The whole focus was to demonize parents who don't vaccinate their kids and create fear and panic that those parents are endangering their kids and the population because they are believing kooky propoganda.

Sadly the show also interviewed doctors who were turning children away because the parents refused pro vaccine 'counseling'.

What is hilarious is that the next segment that played featured a hospital where they operated on the wrong people - this after the TV doctor excoriated parents for not trusting the medical establishment!
