About Me

Having suffered for most of my life from overweight and other problems which I now understand are related to carbohydrate intolerance, food sensitivities, yeast overgrowth and low thyroid, my aim is to help spread the word about these problems and what to do about them. My book 'Why Can't I Lose Weight' and my cookbooks 'The Low Carb/Low GI Cookbook' and the 'Stone Age Diet is Easy Cookbook' represent the drawing together of all I have learned over the last twenty years in terms of resolving my own problems and also those of my husband, whose IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) turned out to be related to food sensitivities and yeast overgrowth. The aims of my websites are to: - Raise awareness of the importance of good nutrition for long term health - Increase recognition of the benefits of a holistic approach to illness which treats root causes rather than symptoms - Contribute to a better understanding of the science of losing weight - Raise awareness of the impact of environmental toxins on our health - Provide unbiased information and practical tools to help those looking for diet and nutrition-related solutions My work on my websites and books is a labour of love which I do in my spare time. My employed work as a contract administrator is what I do during normal working hours to subsidise my website activities and make it possible for me to pass on the knowledge I have gained to other people who may benefit from it. When I'm not working on my websites , cookbooks or at my paid employment, I enjoy playing the clarinet in an orchestra and gardening.
