Mother of 5. 4th child, age 13 Asberger Autism. I,m tired of having to prove to everyone what she has...They believe because she doesn,t look like there is anything wrong with her and that she can talk that she does not have autism. They steriotype Autism with none functioning. I try to tell them that she is not autistic only that she is at the other end of the spectrum, high functioning. They talk to her and because she nodds and looks like she undestands they think she,s normal. Little do they know she is not comprehending their full sentences, but cueing on specific words. She only hears the loudest sound in the class or playground and usually those are the bullies. I,m told by my so called Reach workers and the stupid accessores that she is just mentally delayed ,even though she was already diagonosed at the age of 6 when it was more previlant! No one understands that Asbergers, is high end autism which allows her to mimic and build a library in her brain to learn to cope with her every day surroundings ,especially from her school peers. They blame her for fights with other students that attack her ,because they can play the principal with their tears and pleads of innocence. But because my daugther keeps her voice in a monotone level the whole time and is not able to show empathy behaviour that she is devious and uncaring. In Canada there is no provisions for Asbergers, So she is put in special Ed for her academics and not allowed to have any autism social behaviour or life skills. That is all left up to me to get privately . Not only does she have this condition, she has an added dose of ADHD which I have been told is common with Asbergers! So being a mother of 5 at the age of 52 I am made to go 7 days a week with her, keeping her in clubs and so forth ,running her around till dark which she identifys with time to stop going out, and I just can,t keep up anymore. But to keep her safe from people taking advantage of her ,eg: Friends, boys and strangers I have to watch where she is and make sure she is not alone and safe. She has no survival skills and will follow anyone. And on top of this, she is 5"7 and a ahalf at the tender age of 13 which attracts men , and high school boys and she has no proper judgement in what they would like her for!! So my life is a living hell... and it has seriously affected my families life and my marriage. And will not allow me to work or trust anyone with my child. She also says inappropriate things if she has been around anyone lately that has talked like that. She will blurt things out ,out of no where in front of people , but is really remembering what was said to her up to anywhere from when she was 4 to now... It is hard to look someone in the eyes. I have had numourous visits from C.A.S. because of things that she may repeat. They make our lives a living hell and have caused me to have a condition of panic disorders and high anxiety just walking out the door or sending her to school or visiting a friend. Especially people that have just met her. God Help Me Keep Myself Together for my family and keep me strong and hold my head up with pride and show intelligence in the most stressful hours ,if I don,t show I can keep her under raps and she falls into the system, she will get hurt by someone I know it!!!!! Society will eat her alive.... I am her mother and God gave her to me. It is my duty to care for her for the rest of my natural life. May I live long and strong, no one is ready for this ,and no one will love her like I do nor protect her like I do! I,m a mother bear with her wounded cub and no matter what your title is...you better not come between us ,no matter what books you have read from college! I am an expert and have 13 years of study in one single subject. You might say I have my doctorate in my daughter who has Asberger Autism with ADHD!!! I just need support, from someone who knows exactly what I,m going through. Not a college graduate who read a book on simple Autism.... Life would be perfect if I had a piece of land and could surround her with animals and keep the people away!!!!
