Hi Julieanne!  I was reading your response to Mary on Dr. Mercola's post re: coconut oil.  You said that you have amalgam fillings but have rid yourself of mercury and aluminum by taking selenium and zinc.  I am in the same boat as I have a mouthful of amalgam fillings and cannot afford to have them all removed.  Can you tell me how much selenium and how much zinc you take every day?  Are there specific kinds or brands that know work?  I would love more information about this.  Also, have you noticed any changes in the way you feel after getting that crud out of your body??

Thanks so much!

Marolynne (my Mercola ID is MSmith for response)

Sorry Julieanne I forgot to check where my reply to your email was addressed, I just clicked "REPLY" and now I see it was returned to vitalvotes and not to you personally. Here's what I wrote.

Hi Julieanne

Sorry as Mercola is ahead of the field when it comes to Vitamin D3 I tend to spend my time on other forums where on the whole there aren't people who understand the most recent vitamin D findings.
However I get my VITAMIN D3 in MCT oil based capsules from IHERB
WAB666 saves you $5 if you haven't used IHERB before.
They are cheapest for me because their postage to the UK is pretty cheap.
I expect you can find Country Life 5000iu at other online discount providers if you look around.Vitacost look a tad cheaper but it depends on their shipping charge to where you live.
Ideally initially you will use 1000iu/daily/D3 for each 25lbs you weigh and then after 3 months geta postal 25(OH)D test to see if this is sufficient 5000iu is sufficient for someone weighing 125lbs. If you are a bit heavier and need 6000iu/daily then take a total of 8 capsules each week. Aim for a level around 60ng/ml so your body always has a reserve of D3 to deal with inflammation.
If you already have an inflammatory condition such as Crohn's or Celiac don't be surprised if you need 10,000iu/daily to get to 60ng/ml. Your body needs more anti inflammatory agents than normal folk.
Best regards
Ted

Hi, Julieanne,

Forgive my ignorance.  I guess I just responded to the idea of your having to ingest aspartame which is a very scary compound.  Have you watched the documentary "Sweet Misery"?  That's what did it for me.  I am so inspired to share that info with the world.  But you sound like a very smart lady and I'm sure you're making the best possible choices in a world of craziness;-)

Btw, I notice you like crosswords.  Ever played Bookworm?  It's a video word game you can find online.  I bought a copy at a large electronics store for $10 and it's addictive!  Fun!

Love & blessings, always, Susan

I've had stress and depression in my life, as well, and have also taken antidepressants. During my surfing around the internet I found Andrew Saul and his website http://www.doctoryourself.com/ I studied his website and bought 4 of his books. For Depression, he recommends a. Vitamin C large doses b. Soya lecithin granules Three tablespoons daily of provide about five grams (5,000 milligrams) of phosphatidyl choline c. Amino Acid L-Tryptophan 500–2,000 mg [lots of food sources] d. B6 500 milligrams with the rest of the B complex at appropriate levels for balance I would love to tell you that I had tried all four of these and it made a world of difference. I have started increasing Vit C and Soya lecithin granules and B6. But L-Tryptophan is not available in Australia On his website and in his books, he gives explanations as to why he recommends these supplements and quantities. I don't know why he doesn't recommend Omega-3 fatty acids from cold water fatty fish or Krill. I probably just missed it somewhere. And don't know why he doesn't recommed Vitamin D for depression. Elsewhere he recommends 1,000 to .4,000 IU daily I recommend you have a look at his website. You probably already know all that and I'm preaching to the choir. I don't think I'm teaching my grandmother to suck eggs for 2 reasons: 1) You are not nearly old enough to be my grandmother and 2) I don't know why anyone would want to suck eggs and 3) I'm not sure I know how to suck eggs. Cheers, Virginia

You can deal with stress using EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). Lots of people have used it to help solve their issues large and small. You can download Dr Mercola's manual or you can download Gary Craig's manual. Both are free. Gary Graig is the founder of EFT. His website is www.emofree.com. There is a lot of information there. You can also signup for a newsletter. If you want to work with a practioner, there is a list of practioners with a search facility. This is something you can do by phone so you don't have to find someone in your town/city. It is nice to meet your practitioner once or twice. With best wishes for future wellness.
