About Me

I'm a wife and a stay at home mom. My son was diagnosed ASD at 30 months old. After almost 3 years of fighting with the school system to get them to follow his IEP I gave up on them. I felt it was best to give him the energy that I was wasting on them and I've been home schooling him ever since. I suppose I must be doing something right because the therapists who knew him back then say he's a totally different kid now. We finally got him a Dynavox V and his progress has been great. While I can't say he's verbal in the sense of holding a conversation, he is now able to tell us one word commands. That may not sound like a lot but 2 years ago he had no words at all. Even with all of his challenges, I wouldn't change him if I could. For every "weakness" he has a special talent and that special talent might change the world one day. Even if he never saves the world he's still my hero and I couldn't be prouder.
