About Me

A librarian who retired early due to ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). I research everything and my quest, with the help of my D.O. is to find natural alternatives to fight the progression of the disease. So far, the most progress has come from continued B-12 injections (twice a month), Rx strength vitamin D-3 (50,000 iu per week) and the use of Resveratrol (from the red grape). The move to a warmer climate and the switch to the primal/paleo type diet has also helped.

The use of the Resveratrol stems from the recent discovery that ALS has been linked to head trauma that produces toxic proteins in the brain. An unrelated study (focused more toward Parkinson's disease) found that the Resveratrol may neutralize toxic proteins in the brain so I thought it worth a try and my D.O. had no objection.

Since using the Resveratrol, I notice a marked improvement in my ability to concentrate, and to think more clearly. My memory has improved as well. The other steps mentioned have greatly improved my overall health and mobility mainly by helping me to fight the weakness and fatigue.  My immune system is also much stronger which is great news as those with ALS sometimes fall to pneumonia.
