Yes, all surgeons require Hip Replacement patients to take antibiotics 1hr. before dental work.  Cause in case of hip infection, the "revisit" will be very difficult. One surgeon told me that in all the years he practiced, he saw 3 cases of hip infections due to 1) patient got a bid pimple infection on face 2) a bladder infection  etc.  That's why they are so careful about any dental procedures.  One can take lots of probiotics after a dose of antiobiotics.  (Of course, no one wish to have a hip replacement in the 1st place.)
