dear time4dogs;

i read your comment, but i did a post directed to a website that tracked hormones in pregnant and in non pregnant dogs.  apparently, progesterone supports pregnancy in dogs while estrogen support pregnancy in humans.

birth control pills (the new ones) contain both progesterone and estrogen.  most women tell you they are still hormonal with them, tho a bit less so.

without birth control pills, human women get spikes of progestone (to initiate a pregnancy) and estrogen (to sustain it).  in dogs it is reversted.  but any huaman woman will tell you that changing hormones is always a psychological challenge.

men cycle too, but they seem to be more oblivious to the changes that bring on difficult times.  they attribute it to "needs", ie ego, which is insane.

hormonal changes produces difficult times in everyone.

i stand by my comment that pregnancy is more difficult and harder on a body than non pregnancy.

moreover, what is the point of breeding a dog to more than a few pups because with modern medicine, most of them survive to 15 to 20 years!

dogs are hard on the environment, because like people, they are carnivores and top of the food chain.

i'm not sure what your point is either.  my point is don't breed unless you got a buyer. and perhaps even then, keep it limited and keep your little girl happy and safe.

pregnancy is never completely safe, for women or dogs.  it's an issue.

good luck with your comments.

keep on researching.
