About Me
Hungarian born - American raised.
I speak Hungarian well, but I speak English very well. I am slowly learning German.
My parents brought me to America just after the Hungarian Revolution in 1956. As I was only six years old at the time, I never attended school in Hungary, but did attend a German Kindergarten in Budapest for a year. I began first grade in America with only a few English words. I learned the language fast, but also learned about prejudice just as quickly after being pushed off of the swings a few times. I also learned to use my fists. I was small for my age and had to defend myself because I couldn't understand what was going on. Only the black kids and the Jewish kids would even talk to me. Welcome to America!!
I made it through school without getting arrested somehow through the 1960's. I went to Nursing School in 1970 and became licensed as an LPN. After years of constantly changing jobs, I dropped my nursing license in 1992. Every job I ever had as a nurse eventually ended with disagreements on patient and staff practices. I have an extremely strong sense of fair play, and I can't stand it when patients are shortchanged because of staffing inadequacies. Eventually, I have worked as a receptionist, legal aide, medical transcriptionist, secretary, school bus driver, dump truck driver, life and health insurance agent, and even tried going back to school to get my Registered Nursing License. Unfortunately, cataracts put a stop to that. My insurance won't pay to remove them until they are at a certain degree. Another thing that drives me crazy!
Yet, I have a wonderful husband and two great kids.
