Mother first and foremost. Baby boomer. Mom died of lung cancer. I used to think it was caused by the 20 years of cortisone treatments she took to treat her asthma. Today, due to what I've read here, I believe it was her monthly X rays, ordered by her lung doctor after he removed her first lung tumor - encapsulated and simple to remove. Her prognosis, he said, was excellent. Monthly x rays would catch anything threatening. 8 months and 8 sessions later, another tumor was discovered -- this was aggressive, virulent, with long roots that stretched deep into tissue. And it was inoperable. Poor mom. She was gone 3 months later, the day after her 67th birthday, never considering that those x rays shortened her lifespan. I've learned so much here.
