Eating 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. I didn't know at the time that all that protein could have been the cause. After cancer I switched to the Korean diet I now eat. Almost no sugar, little to no grains other than rice and not even one forth the meat I use to eat. At least half of my diet is raw vegetables including kimchee, which is fermented. At first I was afraid I would not be able to maintain my muscle mass with so little protein. Much to my surprise it has increased. The bodybuilding belief that so much protein is needed to build muscle turned out to be a myth. It is also easier to keep my body fat percentage down. My energy level is also higher and I recover from my training faster. Now it appears my diet may have raised my leptin and insulin levels. Which would explain my lower body fat. Live and learn, May God bless..

Be careful with too much meat

I was a student of Arthur Jones for many years and spent a great deal of time in Lake Helen Florida learning his methods not only from Arthur but from Casey Viator and Dr. Ellington Darden. I have trained using high intensity circuit training for 38 years. I won several bodybuilding titles in my 50's using these methods exclusively.. A total body workout 2 to 3 times per week 8 to 12 exercises, 6 to 12 repetitions to momentary failure. My sessions never take more than 20 minutes. I am now 65 years young 5' 8" 200 pounds with 10 to 12% body fat. I eat a Korean diet consisting of 40% protein,40% carbohydrates and 20% fat. I also power walk 3 to 4 times per week for one hour. I walk everywhere I can instead of driving. Few men half my age can follow me through my circuit routine. This regime is my fountain of youth. I recommend it to anyone brave enough to try it. Progression is the main key, start slow and increase every session....IT WORKS!! for male and female.

My fountain of youth...
