THE EGO IS A COMPULSIVE THINKER.
You can usually keep your mind blank for ten-seconds without the ego’s ideas intruding into your mind. 97% of the typical person’s thoughts come from the ego. The ego crowds the mind with its incessant chatter, which are thoughts about the past, (usually disturbed about mistakes made or criticisms of you or another), or the future, (often about food or worry about what might happen).
For a thought to come from you, you have to make an effort, and you have to be in the present; and it will usually occur when you study, solve a problem, plan or create something. You should be skeptical of the thoughts that come into your head!
THE EGO IS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT ASPECTS OF EVERYONE’S LIFE.
Because it’s thoughts are always in one’s head, it influences every decision one makes; yet little is written about it!
It creates 99.9% of the stress in their lives that is undesirable; yet no one is talking about it!
Its obsessive/compulsive drive is the most powerful force in everyone’s life; yet no one is investigating it.
It is the source that causes of anger, fear and depression; yet no one is inquiring about it.
The reason is because it has the power to divert all thoughts about itself on to something else that isn’t so threatening. It will manipulate the mind to avoid the subject on itself, especially in the mind of the typical person, who will receive thoughts about how unimportant, useless or meaningless it all is. Thus the mind can be diverted away from the subject of the ego with thoughts from the ego about how uninteresting it is, and be kept in the dark about itself.
Whoever is putting thoughts into the head, will usually rule! Just step back and be aware of how the ego manipulates your mind. Once you start using the behavioral tools, that keep you in charge of your mind, your ego is actually going to become a very happy camper, as you take away its stressful anger, fear, worry and insecurities. You become a more cooperative team that can accomplish things together, rather than being at odds with each other. www.egoandyou.com

How much stress you experience has
everything to do with how you react to stress. The degree that you
allow stress to have a negative effect on you, is the degree that you
have given the ego too much responsibility in deciding the choices
you make in your life.
