I have been interested in Natural health for many years. Today I am alarmed about the circumstances of health care in the U.S. We have given allopathic medicine a monopoly for treatment of disease. The result could have been predicted I guess but I have trouble everyday believing it. Simple solutions to disease are regularly suppressed because they are not patentable - not profitable. Hundreds of thousands of people die annually from side effects of prescription drugs and there is no fuss, yet let one person die from misuse of a natural supplement and there is an uproar. We are at risk of entirely losing availability to natural health solutions, pharmaceutical companies would love to see all supplements strictly regulated. Doctors use procedures that are effective but not the current (Hi-Tech) standard of care are persecuted, threatened, have their license to practice revoked (chelation, probiotic therapy etc.). The AMA tried for years to prevent Chiropractic from being practiced. To see such greed, lack of integrity and irresponsibility in the field that used to focused on healing is incredibly sad and ironic. I am a Reiki Master and Licensed Attunement Practitioner. Although I have not chosen to become a practitioner, I do use energy work in my life daily and with friends and relatives. I am also an Avatar Master. Having an understanding of the mechanics of consciousness provides a great deal of insight into the nature of healing to me. I believe that Natural healing is about a holistic approach combining nutrition, energy balance and work in consciousness and other modalities. We regularly see individuals turn around a chronic and debilitating condition that they have suffered with for years and for which conventional medicine has been unable to address with a few supplements and some relatively simple changes in life style. This is continually remarkable to me, there is nothing that mysterious about what we offer yet people who have been suffering for years are able to recover their health. I think that part of it has to do with the fact that when they finally come to us they have given up on the Western Medical model where the system offers to solve their health problems for them. A shift in consciousness is necessary, they will need to make the decisions regarding what to do next, what direction to take. We call this "taking responsibility for your health". I believe we all know what we need to do to heal, but sometimes we prefer to pretend we don't, or are too frightened to take on the responsibility. Ultimately though, it is always our responsibility, we are the ones that decide to let someone else make the decisions, or decide to make them ourselves.
