About Me

I am 67 years of age female of German/Irish decent.   I am Pita / Kapha.   I am Type A personality (recovering co-dependent, over-eater, workaholic.)  I have the American Dieters Association poster taped on my kitchen cabinet.

I have had unusual strength and coordination for a woman . . . until now.  I belong to Silver Sneakers, a free sponsored health exercise program by insurance companies, and usually go 2 - 3 times a week to lift weights, and tread mill.  I have at least 25 health books and 3-4 health websites I refer to often, though I have no medical training.  I do not eat any processed foods. My hair is white, is thinning and weak/easily broken. (but my fingernails are strong).

I have been diagnosed with Dementia but now doctors are not sure.  I have been diagnosed with White Matter Disease and apparently, there are a few types of White Matter Disease but I can't find an Expert here in Philadelphia who can tell me what that means, and the technical jargon on websites concerning this diagnosis is not understandable to this lay person in this condition.   My maternal grandmother died from complications of Diabetes II.  Father died of a stroke at age 56 and mother died at 86 of a Heart Attack so I am aware of the influence of stress on my health.

I am  Taurus Rising/Aquarius.  Meyer-Briggs tests me as ENFJ.  I am a Diabetic II,  30 - 40 lbs over-weight,  and can't focus or think now.  I am losing words in speech.  I have recently had episodes of sustained vertigo. stumbling/falling.   I have alienated friends and family as I've grown frustrated and alienated from Corporate America's greed,  culture's ignorance and passivity.  I live alone.

I am depressed, stressed because I may not be able to complete my life's work.  Philadelphia doctors/hospitals are not helping. Their protocols and constant testing is causing more lost time and stress for me.   I have had many catscans, and other xray type tests, etc.  I am insightful,  been called visionary but don't have all the skills and personality now to bring it forth.  (see www.peopleshareservices.com)

My undergraduate work was "Organizational Behavior in Change" (special 4 year B.S.Management Option) with a minor in Marketing Management but didn't finish the last semester 25 years ago because pride would not allow me to accept a D- in Quantitative Analysis.  I understood the concepts, but couldn't prove them with math.  I've since learned that I may have had Math Dylexia all my life!

I have worked many years as a Professional recruiter, and social activist; I am now a failed social entrepreneur because of the mental/emotional problems I can't resolve.    I live in Section 8 housing (by choice believe it or not) and work hard to accept how this country has become; I admit my Heart is alienated.  It may be too late now.  Our accumulating multi-crisis' is having their ways with us !

I am thrilled and hopeful that this new information about needed balance between liptin and insulin resistance, and look forward to your help with much gratitude.  I am especially appreciative of the connections you are making now for the general public between health issues and pharmacuiticals, agri-business and our declining way of life.

Thank you sooo much for your excellent work,  Doctor Mercola.  You are giving me hope for this World.

Sincerely,  Linda Burkhead
