I appreciate your well-thought-out argument regarding what the Bible allegedly states about TM, however, what makes one new from the old life is the acceptance of the gift of Grace from God, which causes God's Holy Spirit to enter us and make us into new creatures. Sorry, I do not recall the specific verse. You wrote: "The word ‘metanoete’ is usually translated ‘repent’, but the word is composed of two elements: meta means ‘beyond’ or ‘after’, and noete from nous, ‘mind’ means ‘way of thinking.’ When Christ counseled us, “Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is within you,” he was not asking that we apologize or promise to reform. Metanoete means ‘change your way of thinking’." I knew that repent meant "change your mind," and I know, from what you wrote, you would really enjoy hearing Joseph Prince. He is where I first heard the true meaning of the word "repent." [Which is a word, that turns many completely off]. The major difference, in my humble opinion, between TM and prayer to our Lord-God, is the focus and request being based on the Name of Jesus, as we pray in His Name. That is the difference in what I understand. And let me add, I bet your students found your classes quite interesting. I wish you were teaching others of Jesus!

Poetry108, I understand what you are writing, and it does make logical sense. However, I am not truly interested or invested in people living out their religion. And meditation, though good, is so far less than prayer to Jesus, who saved us all from our sins. I admit, it was not until the last year or two, that I was helped to realize, that Jesus died for ALL PEOPLE'S sins. Now, the only sin, which will not be pardoned, when we die, is the sin of non-belief, that Jesus is the Son of God, who died and is risen from the dead, taking away all of our sins, so that we may be with Him for eternity after death. I have never been one to try to argue religion with anyone. However, you must understand, that if one believes, you can only gain eternal life through Jesus Christ, then, if they care about your eternal salvation, they must bring these aspects and truths to your attention. I hope you understand.

Hi, Poetry108! I found your comment to be very interesting. I believe anytime someone is still and quiet and at peace, it is a good thing. However, I think the real power, that comes, is when your thoughts and focus are on God. As far as obtaining peace, Jesus had it right, when He said, "Take your thoughts captive." Anyone who just lets their thoughts concentrate on the bad, evil, sad circumstances of this world, is not going to be at peace in any way. Neither if people feel and entrench themselves in condemnation, which zaps the love and peace right out of their lives. Just check the mental hospitals and the number of people on one drug or another in their attempt to deal with what the world dictates is the reality of life. I have something for you to ponder, that I learned, this last week. "Do not let what your eyes see, dictate what your heart believes." This is what we, as Christians, are to do, as we walk in faith and not what the world states as being the truth. You and I may have something in common, in that I would write poetry and songs as a form of therapy, in my younger years. It is interesting to look back at what I wrote, and recall what was happening in my life at the time. Some of it is pretty funny. Anyway, thanks for your comment, and I hope in your life, you find Jesus to be the most important aspect. He was one Cool Dude, when he walked this earth, and now, He is with our Heavenly Father, as representation for us. Poetry108, it is only through Jesus Christ, that we can make it to an eternal heaven, and I sincerely pray, you find that path for your own. It is not that some preacher said that, or some particular religious denomination said that, it is true, because Jesus said it. Best to you, Poetry108!
