And no, I wasn't aware but nothing surprises me any more.....  "Are you aware that reclaim water is being used in many irrigation districts now?"

After the EPA with PFOA and the FDA with rBGH nothing surprises me.........

Hit "Publish" too quickly..  Meant to address a couple things first.

I am ANAL about using only bamboo spatchulas ect in my Calphalon pans..  The one I tossed my hubby got too with a fork..  Made him replace it with a Calphalon Stainless pan as punishment :)  Now he takes me seriuos...  As mine die I will replace them with stainless.  I have had a bit of trouble with sticking..  I'll have to experiment to see what I'm doing wrong..

I seem to just react to freed glutamate vs that bound to other nutrients in whole foods..  Thankfully!!  I know a couple people that are soooo sensitive they can't have anything fermented.  I read "Excitotoxins: The Taste that Kills" by Dr. Blaylock but I was in a brain fog state and really need to re-read it now that I'm a bit more clear..  I do still have room for improvement though..

"Allergies" hormone injections in standard industry beef --- they certainly do add to the toxic load for sure..  Audrey has eaten organic foods her entire life and still managed to develop allergies.  Her liver :) was stressed due to the extra workload required of it due to the kd.  I made the HUGE mistake by feeding her barley (it is a good source of fermentable fiber and fermentable fiber is VERY useful to help clean the toxins from the blood -- can prolong the symptoms of kd --- nitrogen trapping).  The fermentable fibers inulin and FOS are the reason burdock root is the "blood purifying" herb.

Back to the barley -- has gluten/gliadin which can cause inflammation to the intestines which causes leakage which causes multiple allergies.  Dogtor J is REALLY a great source of information on food allergies and intolerances..  He feels that ALL true allergies are secondary to the main 4 -- soy, corn, gluten & dairy.

As you state though --- how many of the "allergies" are not actually true allergic reactions?  My head always goes to food allergies when there's itching without any skin trauma..  We are more inclined to look to the things we have experienced aren't we? :)  In all honesty though, I think allergies (even if caused by the toxic liver) are more prevalent then given credit for.  Many sites say they are rare but four of the dogs in my home react to foods.  Gizmo is intolerant of chicken and turkey (although it was NSAID's (prior to my home) that set her up for the intolerance).  Audrey is allergic due to damage done from gluten.  Mimi (foster dog) is allergic to lamb and my newest foster Kippie is apparently allergic to something.  Foster's get organic raw too.  I have yet to find her allergy - if there really is one.  The other day she acted like her hind end was giving her fits but I didn't document what they had been eating..  Too many dogs (9 total) not to document right now...  Heck she could be detoxing -- that could have been what her rescuer was seeing???

Audrey's kidney damage is chronic and from all I've read it is irreversible.  The kidneys do not regenerate when they are that damaged.  I have seen ONE doctor poo poo that notion but even most holistic practitioners say it is progressive and eventually fatal..  Acute kd can be reversed.  I think what happens with acute is there at too many toxins for the kidneys to keep up with and unless caught and treated leads to a quick death.  Chronic kd has a better outcome short term but long term is fatal.  I'm praying for the miracle but preparing for the worst case scenario.  Fact is she's been with me 2 1/2 years longer then the average dog with congenital kd.  I'm also not doing ANYTHING that is recommended.  I'm a maverick :)..

Anyhoo, need to get going.  Thanks again for the great conversations and letting me bend your ear :)

Jen,

Thanks so much for your kind words!!!  I'm happy you have found some of my posts informative :)  I know I will be able to learn a lot from you as well....  I have started researching some of the material you presented but work ended up being a bit busy so will have to get time in here and there..  At least this week..

Have a great evening and Wednesday,

Flooring/furniture --- in my State we are required to have the flame retardant mattresses, my entertainment center and a few small pieces (are old and particle board) but I know that pressed wood off gases formaldehyde for the life of the piece.  As do some carpeting and my area rugs are not high end so I would assume they probably do.  I have a vinyl (ugh) cover over my mattress to protect it from foster dogs marking... etc

My father is a Naturopathic Doctor and Master Herbalist so I had guidance earlier on in holistic health..  I'm also a Scorpio - good researcher/tenacious/inquisitive etc and take info I hear that seems realistic and reasonable and go about researching it myself..  Allows me a deeper knowledge then just hearing it.. :)  I've read the Safe Shopper's Bible, frequent the website Skin Deep on a regular basis, EWG, Dr. Samuel Epsteins website, Weston Price, one of my faves on nutrition Dr. Royal Lee etc etc etc..  But I still manage to learn something new almost daily :)  Ohh I think I mentioned this -- one of my favorite books is Never Be Sick Again -- there are two causes of disease --- toxins and nutrient dificiencies..

I don't have any questions for you currently although that could change in a moments notice..  I will learn more by reading your posts and asking questions as they come up and/or researching your site.

I use Aura Cacia essential oils..  I believe Young Living is supposed to be better but many if not most of their products are out of my price range -- unless I give up fostering.. :)

Ohhhh here's a question for you --- I don't use tephlon (PFOA) but I use the high end Calphalon cookware that is anodyzed aluminum..  Any thoughts/concerns.  Supposedly the aluminum doesn't contaminate the food unless the pan is scratched (I've thrown one away due to scratches) but I have a hard time trusting manufacturers to be compeltely honest..  Imagine that :)

My Pom's eyes -- actually, the eye debris was chronic (for this dog) and was due to a diet a bit too high in calcium.  Beth, Dr. Becker's nutritionist, mentioned the premade I was using as a base protein was a bit high in bone..  I was adding protein to the base but not enough.  As soon as I made the minor adjustment my Pom's eyes cleared up --- literally days (after having the eye goo for over a year).  Her eyes now are almost always clear.  Jan Rasmusen is doing a lot of research on tear staining/debris.  Discusses it on her dogs4dogs.com website..

My Pom does detox through her eyes still but she may have staining and or debris for a day or two.  Nothing chronic any long.  And yes, it sometimes is blackish although not always.  Sometimes its more redish.  My foster dog has tear staining (red) right now too.  I had to take her off of raw and put her back on kibble :(  Long story..

I do feed completely raw, grain free foods.  I even ferment veggies for the dogs.  Also give them Standard Process Chlorophyl, spirulina, seaweeds, fresh and free range eggs, organic glandulars (Standard Process as well), Wheat grass, chia seeds, pumpkin seed oil etc.  Not all at the same time of course. :)

Audrey is my dog that has congenital kidney disease.  We noticed symptoms even before she was weened.  She was officially diagnosed at one year of age.  Exempt for all shots for life (never vaccinated for rabies - first puppy shots on other core vaccines), no preventatives, weaned onto a raw diet etc.  She's 4 1/2 years old and still in early stages of kd and unmedicated (except neutraceuticals), no special diet etc.  I'm as careful with toxins in my home as I can be as it very literally could make the difference between life and death for Audrey.

This is becoming a book so ---- thanks for the website info and I would love to read your book once written...  Welcome to the site.  I know many people will be able to benefit from your knowledge.

Oops -- forgot this.

Palm oil -- what's your info on palm oil if you wouldn't mind..  All my sources (mercola, weston price, body ecology, my doctor, Rose Cole :) list palm oil as a good fat...

Thanks,

Shawna
