Boy can I sympathize with your struggle from pesticide poisoning...Having been someone who was poisoned by a drug from my Dr., I know that can be awful and what I did for it was a huge blessing. Using acupuncture via the NAET method (look up NAET.com), my body went back to normal again and pretty quickly. This is not like typical acupuncture and doesnt require so many needles, nor it is painful at all so I cannot say enough about it and hey, you deserve to feel better! Lots of Luck! Jean

Hi toxed2loss,

I was told you might be able to help by Swinn.  Chewy, my Sheltie, has thyroid dysfunction. I think he needs to detox from exposure to RoundUp and other lawn chemicals. Do you know what I can use to detox him gently since he is just recovering from Colitis this last month? I hope you are doing well.

Thank you for your advice.

Mary

You wrote "Both the liver and kidneys are stressed for the same reason. One side effect of the damage is the increased nitrogen, see NO/ONO metabolic cycle (Dr. Ron Paul) All of the above use up more glutathione in the body's attempt to repair the damage."

"Increased nitrogen" -- The nitrogen in the blood "blood urea nitrogen" is a by-product of protein consumption that the kidneys (due to the dead nephrons) are unable to filter out.  I won't deny although that environmental toxins add to the disease --- as due poor quality, less bioavailable, proteins..  Probiotics "in nitrogen trapping" consume the urea eliminating it from the blood and spares the kidneys from the extra workload.  Creatinine is a waste product of the enzyme creatine found in muscle tissue.  It too becomes elevated in kd.  I'm ALL EARS if you know something I don't :) :) :)

After only a quick search, I couldn't find any data on NO/ONO metabolic cycle Dr. Ron Paul?

"Her congenital KD and her allergies can be traced to toxic exposures to the mother, even before pregnancy."

Audrey was the runt of a litter of six.  The vet felt there wouldn't be more then 3 pups (for the size/breed of the mother).  Audrey is the only pup to this day to show any signs of illness.  Although I can definitely see where toxins could play a role (grandparents on mom's side were puppy mill breed dogs / father belongs to a family that is just above poverty level and dad eats poor quality foods -- although unvaccinated for the same reason).  In Audrey's case -- I think it had more (not all) to do with nutrition and time of conception.  Mom was bred the whole time in heat -- just over two weeks.  I'm betting Audrey was conceived on one of the last days.  Being late in the game she didn't get the same nourishment that the older pups got.  Does that make sense?

Sorry for the 20 questions :)

Jenn,

You wrote "Glutathione receptors in the body are used by glutamate. D-glutamate, the unbound kind, being toxic, damages those receptors (Dr. Blaylock's book) and the ability to make more glutathione. NSAIDS, use the same receptors and destroy the bodies ability to make more glutathione. Gluten/ gliadin, just more of the same... Less available glutathione, the more toxins that are free floating through out the body and lodged in cells, causing damage."

I've just begun researching this but ----- fascinating!!!!

One question this brought up for me --- Dr. Blaylock feels supplementing with glutamine can be dangerous for those suseptible but glutamine is necessary for the formation of glutathione -- correct?  So is it natural food based glutamine (when in conjunction with cystein(sp) and the thrid in the tri that is healthful and necessary..  Or, is supplementation of glutamine really okay?

Second burning question --- do you feel that the small amount of exposure that the dogs had to the offending products did enough damage to cause chronic symptoms?

Gizmo the Pom -- broke her leg at 4 months of age and I'm assuming was on an NSAID.  Came to me at 6 months.  At 1 year reacted to rabies vaccs by having a SMALL seizure.  At 2 years had to revaccinate (due to 1 year being 1 year shot) and again a SMALL seizure.  At close to 3 years she hurt her back and allopthic vet with emergency hours gave her ONE NSAID which she reacted to with colitis.  I imagine (trying to read your mind here :) you will tell me that she likely had previous exposure that was still clearning out when coming to me?  No idea of her background -- good breeder, puppy mill etc.

I see your point on the beef now as well!!

"Another secondary detox pathway that we often see is fat loading in adipose tissue."  Giz was spayed at about 1 and 1/2 years old.  She immediately started gaining weight and was 2 pounds heavier in three months on the same food.  She has since lost this weight and is back to her normal petite little self but it took almost 2 years to get it off despite being on a high protein, grain free, moderate fat diet..  I thought this was always hormonal but now I have to wonder if it wasn't a reaction to the drugs used for spaying...???  She also developed a lipoma which is now almost completely gone..  Hmmmm

Any idea why some seem more tolerant of toxins then others?  I should be healthier then my hubby - he smokes, did drugs when younger, drank like a fish when younger, eats junk food, eats gluten sugar and dairy daily, uses tap water to make his morning coffee (too much trouble to fill the pot with filtered?), works in an industrial setting (as an electrician), has phthalate laden air freshners hanging from his rear view mirror, works on gas engines as a hobby, family history of disease (msg toxicity and diabetes) etc but outwardly is healthier then I....  Argh...  He should really be dead by now!!  :)  I have a good insurance policy on him..  Hee hee

Back to researching :)
