To paraphrase Jon Barron, over 95% of the 15,000 plus FDA approved drugs - most of which only treat symptoms and do not address underlying causes or prevention - have side effects. Often, these side effects are quite significant and lead to further physical problems that result in still more drugs being prescribed in a never ending cycle so that by the time the average US male reaches age 65 he takes a combination of 15 prescribed and over the counter medications daily. And it all started out with one or two problems that could have been treated naturally.

Our system of synthetic drugs and managed illness is a great model for profit, but a horrible one for humanity.

Here is another drug that was labeled by the corrupt FDA "safe and effective" and then found to kill people. No pharmaceutical drug of any type can ever be expected to be safe and effective for the simple reason that any type of synthetic chemical entering the organism becomes a poison with unpredictable side effects; only natural substances contained in time-tested foods, free from any additive synthetic chemicals, are truly safe and effective.

To, Samuri.. a good question.."why have many sued the tobacco companies and not the big Pharma companies." I believe the reasons are..1) We are in the early stages (like 5 years) to hear and recognize how harmful big Pharma is..2) It took years of illnesses and killing people before we could prove tobacco was the cause..3) And worst of all...The FDA is in bed with big Pharma and they are keeping information from the public, knowing the harm these medications are capable of. It's all about big $$$ not our health!

Recently, I was reading about a woman who's husband almost died from Wellbutron (the anti depressant drug). As I researched further, I learned many people have died and/or have been stricken with life long illnesses brought on, such as bipolar, by this medication. What shocked me more, is it was Glaxo SmithKline, who manufacture Wellbutrin and Avandia and they have scientific studies that prove this could happen to a percentage (one person is too many) of the public who took these drugs. The FDA knows this but they chose to ignore Glaxo's scientific findings. It's all about money!

The woman is trying to stop Glaxo, she was told by attorney's to first get a doctor to say the drug caused it but Doctor's won't go against big Pharma. She met a scientist who did private testing and has proof but is being silenced (long story). She then requested documents from the FDA about wellbutron. The FDA took a year to send her the information and they conveniently sent her documents that were vague at best, and were not what she requested. Many other's are afflicted by the drug and have tried to get proof. It's basically a cover up and it takes a lot of money to fight and uncover companies like Glaxo SmithKilne and they rely on that. Although, it was proven by one family and Glaxo, in a very private settlement, paid off a couple who sued them because their son committed sucide from using Wellbutron.

It's wrong and we all need to fight and stop them!

Let me see first we are fed "High Fructose Cornsyrup" to cause this malady diabetes, in the first place. Next declaire this malady a disease, which gives "Big Pharma" exclusive rights for medication, or God forbid, a cure. Then things are turned over to the "Alchemist" who come up with a magic pill. A magic pill designed to transport you quickly to your grave. The FDA, well they look the other way. I am so glad the FDA is looking out for my health and well being.

I am so confused as to why so many have sued the large tobacco companies, and so few sue large pharma companies like this one.

With Dr Merc. teaching us about grains, sugars etc. and the enlightenment on the net of chromium, herbs and the avoidance of rapeseed and soya oils, WHY are people NOT getting the message and off those medications?? Why not beat diabetes, and beati big pharmas and their criminal quack lackeys, with their profitable toxic treatments? Take your health into your own hands...stomach, I mean..

My mom has been on insulin for many years and was pressured by her doctor to try avandia. She was on it for a month and had horrible side effects like headache and nausea, not to mention she gained 10 pounds in that one month.

About 4 years ago I was diagnosed as diabetic, type 2. My doctor placed me on Avandia and Glucotrol combined and I began monitoring my fasting blood sugar daily. I found that by taking these drugs, I could continue to drink my Dr. Pepper and eat my hotcakes with maple syrup and still log my morning glucose level below 125. My A1C reading came down from 92 to 58 in less than 6 months. My doctor was pleased with everything except my weight. In a year and a half, I had gained more than 100 pounds. I also had to take a daily does of furosimide (lasics) to prevent fluid build up. I tried dieting and did lose about 30 pounds and then slid back to my old pattern. I needed the caffeine fix every morning from Dr. Pepper. (I do not dirink coffee or tea.)

I finally started researching my disease and discovered that insulin was indeed increased by these drugs, about 4X and was able to handle the large amounts of High Fructose Corn Syrup I was consuming.

Then I finally realized that the drugs were only helping me to continue my destructive lifestyle.

I stopped seeing my doctor since she obviously was educated by the pharma industry. I began a regimen of no sugar, no HFCS, and reduced my refined carbs consumption.

The weight began shedding at the rate of about 2 to 3 pounds per week. My fasting blood glucose level has consistantly been below 115 and sometimes below 100. So far I am down about 60 pounds and have now added excercise to my regimen. In November I will take another A1C test to see how I am doing.

These drugs are designed to keep you forever in the disease plus designed to require more and more drugs to counter the side effects.

One of the insidious aspects of drug therapy is that it enables one to continue in the same destructive lifestyle. Change doctors if you have one like my ex-doctor.

Avandia, a member of the thiazolidinedione medication class, seems, according to research, to reduce insulin resistance and fatty acid catabolism. According to my "Thorn Theory" (partially revealed earlier in my posts on this website), insulin resistance is an effort to keep the "thorns" (herbivore feeding deterrents) out of the cells. I also indicated that these "thorns" are deposited in fat cells by our immune system in a proactive, protective mode.

Avandia, by reversing the protective actions of insulin resistance and decreased fatty acid catabolism, would therefore allow the catabolism of fats containing these "thorns", and allow these "thorns" to enter tissues such as the heart where they are designed by Nature to go and do their work which often leads to death.

As such, you would expect to see more heart attacks, and this article of Dr. Mercola indicates just that. One should also look for increased strokes, Alzheimer's disease and type 1 diabetes, along with other disease associated with insulin resistance.

There is an old saying that "50 million Frenchmen Can't Be Wrong". I say that to say that with so many people having insulin resistance, there must be something protective about. It is primarily what's in the white fat cells (triglycerides and cholesterol esters) that is the object of insulin resistance. Keep it out of the cells.

I am so glad to know this. Diabetes runs in our family. I've always known sugar has a negative effect on me and I avoid it as much as possible. I do eat many of my veggies raw or very lightly steamed. I like beef as rare as possible.

Perhaps if the raw foods experience were to spread among people, the incidence of diabetes would decrease? Certainly the need for drugs to control it would be less.

Many drugs are know to cause serious adverse reactions. Statins for instance cause myopathy. I wonder how much damage is caused by physicians simply not understanding the toxic nature of the drugs they prescibe; how unneccesary they are in many instances; and how little they actually benefit the patient. On the other hand how much is caused by the medical community being like those "none so blind as those who will not see'

As I was reading this article, I began to realize that I had stopped feeling stressed when reading these sad stories. Our horrific fight with all these agencies, doctors , our government, and the people of the world, is begining to come to a head. Either people begin to get it or they won't.

I am going to continue to help fight for health freedom as long as it is possible, hopefully my personal opinion will still count.

Ron Paul is a very important entity and we need him to be in office, for the sake of our survival.

Another reason the doctors should be teaching lifestyle changes, including the reduction of high fructose corn syrup, sugar, increasing exercise and incorporating more natural modalities such as GTF chromium and Cinnamon Bark.
