We are indeed mushrooming out, undernourished and miserable without realizing that our temple physilogically, psychologically/emtionally and spiritually depends on proper nourishment. We, many times, treat our cars and pets better than our bodies, which are to sustain us in every endeavor. This of course does not speak for everyone. I do however absolutely ache for the obese and afflicted I see at our clinic and for the ones I observe walking down the street inwardly crying to be thin and yet are controlled into thinking and feeling inadequate due to many and various states of physiological/psychological problems/reasons.

We truly are what we eat and without doubt should eat to live. That is why Dr. Mercolas's site is invaluable as is your input. I am very much and sincerely enjoying most...if not all... of what you offer and share. Many thanks to all of you.

First, I noticed that the newborn children of first generation asian immigrants seemed to grow far taller and develop faster than those children that moved here when they were in their teens.

I think that the hormones and growth factors put in American cattle, sheep, and pigs was having an effect on the children consuming the meats of those animals.

Next, I noticed that high fructose corn syrup is not just a major ingredient in soda and energy drinks that kids consume, but is a major factor in juice boxes, cereal, chocolate, and drink mixes that kids consume in large amounts.

Children who come from countries where this is not available seem to be smaller, and less obese than the children who grow from childhood on this substance.

Finally, I have noticed that children that come as teens from asian and other countries that do not share the american diet seem to have less adult build and characteristics than children born of immigrant families who are raised on the American diet.

This fast maturity, height and muscle gain seems to underly a lot of the giant and overweight children that make up the youngest class of United States obese citizens.

It is as if the American diet was giving the children similar characteristics of a fatten calf or feeder steer, or pig prepared for market.

Are we so certain that the efforts to make money by bringing an animal to market faster for slaughter is not leaving residues in the meat that could be harming the youngest of us?

There are certain groups of Overeaters Anonymous that have known this for years. I was fortunate enough to be one of the folks that the Atkin's diet works for and had some success with it over the last 10 years but lost control each time I came off the induction phase and tried to add back in carb foods (even in small amounts). I spent a lot of time reading the Mercola newsletters and thinking I knew what he was talking about when he said "protein type" but I didn't get results until I made a decision to participate in the program and really learn what foods worked for me and which ones don't. The program costs about as much as a months worth of quality multi-vitamins and will likely do you a lot more good. If you want change, skip the vitamins and try his program. Many thanks to Dr. Mercola for providing this to people at an affordable price.

It is also true that the body reacts to certain things that make the cells and glands not able to function properly nor get rid of all the crud buildup because it is trying to fight off these chemicals, therefore making us swell up like a baloon from the allergic reaction from it-forcing our body into obesety.

I just cannot believe they spend billions and billions of dollars for health research and the only answer they have to show for it is-I don't know. They know folks, they know exactly what causes ailments and through the billions of dollars of research is how they find them and how to force these ailments on us. Are they just spending all of these billions and investing all of their time on health research just for the hell of it. Absolutly not, if they wasn't profiting from it in one way or the other, then they would move on to something else for better profit.

Think about it. How can they possibly find a cure for anything if all they have on their mind is how to develope a disease. Simple, there is no money in staying healthy, but we see the heavy profits in treeting and causing diseases.

Why is it some of us can sleep in poison ivy, or get a bee sting and never be affected, yet others only have to think about it and break out in a terrible rash. The same with obesety, thin eats the same things as plump, some stay thin, others become obese. They know how and why the body reacts. Do you see much preaching to the thin people on how not to become obese (no money in it). All we see is preaching to the obese on how to become thin. They know!

re: 75 Percent of Our Population Will be Overweight by 2015

my daughter and her 3 kids just moved in with us from another state --I am so glad she is here where I can help her as she has been through a very difficult time(her now ex is in prison). It has been quite an adjustment for all of us and getting them to eat healthy is quite a challenge. Society does not make it easy to raise kids these days. When my girls were little there was a lot of junk of course but the proliferation of it now is so scary. I took my 5 yr old grand son with me to grocery store and all the stuff I don't even notice before is all at his eye level marketed with colorful cartoon or movie characters. And as if the fake, over packaged(bad for the planet also)foods were not bad enough even those that look healthy are not. I could not find even one kid friendly, whole wheat bread that did not have HFCS in it! Then the ice cream truck comes down our block 2 - 3 times a day and the kids are wanting that--and of course all the neighbor kids they play with are getting fake ice cream or are drinking pop or eating junk in front of them every single day!!! I have fruit juice popcicles and organic ice cream for occasional treats and unlimited real fruit and other healthy foods for treats but it is never enough. And of course because they have been in such an abusive, chaotic situation it is so hard to say no to them allt he time. They are all thin and active. this might sound really terrible but I was so frustrated one day when they were begging for more treats as the neighbor boy got junk and they did not that I told them they would end up fat like that boy if they wanted to eat like he does! Later I sat them down and explained that while what I said was true(he is fat!) they were not to call the boy fat(which I had heard them do) and it is not his fault that his parents don't care enough about his health to feed him right. One bright spot --they love going to the farmers market with us and picking out fresh stuff!

re: 75 Percent of Population Predicted to be Overweight by 2015

Could this be possible--by 2015 skinny will be classified as a disease and will have weight gaining diets and medication to help us gain weight to get to the norm, (not being sarcastic) but if you know who sees an opportunity for profit--well!

In my own investigation of certian health issues, the one thing I have found is--you don't mess with peoples food--especially their pop.
