They are the dried fruit of the Chinese Soapberry tree (Sapindus mukorossi). Place two or three in the small cotton bag included, toss bag into warm water wash (or soak bag of soap nuts in hot water before adding to cold water wash). At end of laundry cycle, toss husks in compost. This product lives up to its claims! I get mine at my local health food store. Here's the web link:

Many people are not aware of carcinogens so I will list a few. Fluoride, Talc, DEA, TEA, Diazolidinyl urea, Imidazolidinyl urea, padimate-O, Quaternium 15 & 26, and many others. There are also food carcinogens such as Dyes, especially Red#40, Saccharin and sodium nitrate. Then there area also toxic ingredients like propylene glycol and sodium laurel sulfate (SLS) or sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) which enter your bloodstream quickly and cause damage to your liver etc. This all makes common sense to me since in the early 1900's your chance of getting cancer was 1 in 100. (unheard of in children) Today it is 1 in 2 for men and 1 in 3 for women. Only about 10% of cancers are hereditary, the other 90% are caused from the chemicals we use on our skin, which absorbs everything, and in our foods, especially the processed meats, (hot dogs, lunchmeats, bacon etc.) and Red#40 (Jello, Koolaid, Trix, etc.) How many chldren eat these foods on a daily basis?

Look at the amount of just this particular toxic chemical being produced every year : 400 million pounds ! Where is it going to go after it's marketed, purchased and used ? In the waters of rivers and lakes of course and then back to us in our tap water. We need to hold the Big Corporate Chemical Industry accountable for this insiduous on-going poisoning of planet earth.

I use high proof grain alcohol from a liquor store, such as Everclear, or even better is Spiritus Rectifcoany (Polish for Rectified Spirits) which is 96% ethanol. Pharmacy bought ethanol has toxins added, and isopropanol is itself toxic and made from petroleum so should not be put on the skin. Alum crystal stone deodorants contain Aluminum so should not be used.

For hair I use Aubrey Organics. My scalp used to itch and get "sand" in the pores from built up chems and skin cells, but after a month with organic shampoo my itches are 5% of what they were.

Coconut oil anything is very good for us and the planet. You can get coconut oil hand soap for 6$ a gallon at Smart-N-Final. I haven't tried it for house cleaning. It's okay as a shampoo, but I'm a guy with rather short hair so it does't make much difference. I prefer Aubrey's. And I use coconut oil based laundry detergent.

It works for body and hair and lathers like crazy. No additives. I have senstive skin and all the other commercial soaps are loaded with junk. What a difference. Never use under arm deoderants. If you have bad body odor it is a sign your system is stressed out. Use it as a baraometer of your well being, including what you eat. If you look at all the chemicals in any typical under arm deoderant, you would never use it. Take showers, relax, exercise and eat right and there is no need for underarm deoderants. If it is true that certain chemicals mimic estrogen and cause sex changes in embryos, you can begin by not buying the chemcials that cause the problem. If there is no market for these chemicals, then they stop producing them. It is simple as that.
