To C.J. and anyone else interested. (I am a patient at Mercola's clinic) The comments on this site are more about the vaccine but learning about HPV will help with intelligent discussion about the vaccine.

It has only been in the past few years that doctors have come to an understanding that cervical cancer is caused by the HPV virus. I am passing along this web site and a bit of my understanding from my gynecologist.

It has always been known that cervical cancer was found ONLY in sexually active women. Only in the past few years have they gained information about HPV and determined that this is the virus that causes cervical cancer. It is sexually transmitted by skin to skin contact, therefore, condoms will not fully protect. There are close to 100 strains of HPV but only 5 strains have been identified as being high risk for causing cancer. The body's immune system will normally resolve the virus. A woman could have the virus and not know it because it is not active in the body at the time of her pap smear especially if she doesn't have a pap annually. When a pap smear comes back positive it can be tested for high risk and the situation is monitored to know if it progresses to cancer. This has become more in the forefront because of the development of the vaccine. Other than NEVER becoming sexually active the only thing a woman can do is strive to have a healthy immune system.

For those who are opposed to vaccines, present your FACTS. But please, leave off your comments that are condemming those who have the virus or saying that it is totally preventable. I have searched the Mercola site for understanding how it is totally preventable and found nothing to support that.

I received a Disney e-letter on August 7th that had an ad

that claimed "you could help guard your daughter against cervical

cancer." The link went to a Merek web site for Gardasil.

Of course regular pap smears, a healthy diet, with frequent exercise and very specific sexual

education to youth are all very important. I cannot comment on the effects of Gardasil at

present, but do feel this vaccine,if safe, would be helpful to many young girls who would

not be seen routinely or even at all for pap smears, do not have a healthy diet and are using

risky sexual behaviors. I understand that many holistic practitioners are very much against

vaccines and there is a great deal of belief that childhood vaccines are directly related to the

increase in autism in the American population. But certainly some vaccines have been

lifesaving and I think people now immediately think of something negative and harmful when

they see the word "vaccine" and I think this is unfortunate. I have not made a definite

decision yet, and certainly I am aware of the greed of pharmaceutical companies and how the

almightly dollars has tremendous influence in how our country is run and what kind of health

care system we have. It would just be unfortunate to see something that could potentially save

many lives be dismissed without a thorough investigation. Now how that should be done, I can't

say. I am not a researcher. But there has been an increasing rate of diseases that had been

eradicated by vaccines, now being seen again.

This is a good example of how we are led by the nose by what we see on TV, or hear on the radio. Even in print ads, it is all one sided. As many of us believe there are two sides to every story. Only truth is we do get the other side of the story, the one that says all the drugs are good for you. Good only for the bottom line of the various companies that make up "Big Pharma." Too many of us think the government is the great equalizer, that is a big misconception. Government works only for those with very large sums of money. The main obligation of "Big Pharma" is to those who have invested in the companies. So what if you do not get well, remain ill, or even die. Money is the important element.

There is first big "Big Pharma," then Madison Avenue, your doctor, and then the pharmacy. They all get paid for your being a fool, and only listening to one side of the story. We do not read, we do not research, we easily take someone elses word for gospel truth when it comes to our health. Our heads are in the sand.

People are dying neddlessly of this disease and that, we continue to listen to those who lie, as to what this or that is for. The FDA, the FCC, the FTC, act more like the Gestapo, Hitler would be very proud, because he has posthumously achieved his goal. A world without personal freedom, and a posturing government, that says one thing, but covertly does something else.

On the other hand more Americans care whether Brad Pitts is wearing underwear, than what our government is doing. We for the most part cannot name even one of our elected representatives, but we know what color Linsay Lohan's hair is trhis week. Sad.

There is no concern for you or your family. The affore mentioned agencies of the government cannot keep bad food from coming in from China, but they are going to make sure the truth about "Big Pharma" remains something the mind of a "Conspiracy Theotist" conceived in his or her mind. We are in trouble.

I have HPV. It is high risk and not resolving itself. When I came to this site for information I found nothing helpful, BUT I DID find condemnation "HPV can be completely avoided with the proper life style". THere are many women who have "proper" lifestyles that end up with HPV. After one sexual partner and 26 years of marriage I am dealing with HPV. Someone referred me to the Women to Women website which was most helpful and informative. I would encourage anyone interested to go there. HPV is becoming extremely widespread.

All of these comments seem more hysterical than thoughtful. Have any of you ever had or known someone with HPV? I don't know if the vaccine is safe or not and I don't think it should be mandatory but I don't understand all the emotion surrounding it.

Information is more important than emotion - Get informed. It is true that the vaccine only addresses a few of the HPV strains. There are only a few strains that cause cervical cancer. Learn about HPV at Women to Women.

5 deaths should be plenty to yank this drug off the market. What is it going to take for the politicians in this country to realize things are broke and need fixing? One of their own daughters dying from something dangerous like this that has no business being on the market? The FDA and other agencies that are meant to protect the public need to have all conflicts of interest severed immediately. They and their employees should never be allowed to benefit from the companies they are regulating (including working for those companies), and those companies should never be allowed to coerce (read: lobby) the agencies that regulate them. Without that drastic of a separation we can never know that they're doing the job they're supposed to in the way they're supposed to be doing it.

When will we realize, these commercials are designed to increase sales, for "Big Pharma," and Madison Avenue, and the networks. For months we have heard this is a preventative measure, and not 100% effective. At the same time the FDA has assisted the manufacturers in covering the true dangers of this miracle pill. A commercial is repeated, and repeated, and at the same time there is no rebutal, because of the expenses involved in producing a commercial. As the old saying goes there are two sides to every story, yet we only hear one side.

The FDA is supposed to be looking out for the public good. Instead the FDA is doing it's best to keep this dangerous durg onthe market. Meanwhile the FDA cannot seem to protect us from bad food here in this country, let alone from China. But now they are telling us they must regulate Ditary Supplements, for the protection of the public. Supplements I might add which have no clear connection to a serious illness, or death of any user. Not to mention the goal is higher for the Supplement manfacturers, than for "Big Pharma." Go figure.

Well we had better figure something out. The FDA, FTC, and the FCC, are all out of control, and our government is no better than those of Cambodia, Nazi Germany, Red China, or even Communist Russia. There is no longer free speech, freedom of expression, and no privacy. What the laws of this prohibit the government from doing, they, the government allow big business to do on their behalf. Hitler has won posthumously, and guess what we as the citizens of this once free nation assisted. We have grown complacent. We do not vote, we do not read,and most of us cannot name our representatives in Washington. But we know if Brad Pitt wears underwear.

Wake up America, if not we are going to find ourselves without a constitution, and few freedoms we have will have gone the way of the Dodo Bird.

I read an article several years ago, which I read to my daughter and her friends -- it stated that condoms give people a false protection . The writer stated that a lot of what causes sexually transmited diseases is outside of the area of the mens genitals (not to pick on the males) but the point was that the truth is not being put out there. The condoms do not protect against std and that is why we have so much more stds out there with this false security being promoted.

As a Kiwi all I can say is when will this horrific campaign stop?! First we had MenZB, the dodgy meningitis vaccine that provoked thousands of severe reactions (not tested, only 70% effective against one strain out of three, only effective for 2 years, cases in major decline at the start of campaign, etc etc...). Now there's Gardasil. I would gladly home school my children in the future if it meant stopping my daughter having this forced onto her. When will people wake up?!?!

Having had Cervical Cancer at the age of 40, i was not seriously hurt or traunitized in any way, other than a few days worry. The procedure to rid yourself of this Cancer is a simple procedure in the doctor's office which consists of lying on a table and him freezing it and removing it. I went home and cooked dinner. The key is that IF YOU GET CERVICAL CANCER, YOU FIND IT EARLY and get it treated. I am now 47 and totally cancer free. Did I need a vaccine? my answer is NO. Will I have my daughter vaccinated? my answer is NO. I agree that this is a way to do many things including population control. Who really knows what is in there and what it will do.

The owners of congress, lawyers, and judges and ignorant people will NEVER stop dealing in these immoral drugs that kill and maim innocent people just as much as a suicide bomber. THe only difference between a suicide bomber and a pharmanopolistic house of lawyers and bought govt workers and doctors is that they deal in drugs that maim and kill our mostly young or the sick and elderly. This is a national disgrace and is controlled by people who will get their way because of the money they pay in bribes to get FDA approval and the lies they are allowed to spread. So they just come out with another miracle drug that doesnt do anything except make billions of dollars for them and kill the ignorant sheep called americans. The thing that brings tears to our eyes and breaks our hearts is that they are killing our children in the name of another billion dollars for their piggybanks. Still, we the ignorant fools who so desperately wish to indulge in every vice known to man and fix it all with a pill, continue to support these medicriminals by rushing to the store and buying their poisons believing it will heal all ills. Stupid fools, stupid fools, stupid fools. THe only thing that will stop them is when their plants and offices are in shambles and they can no longer produce their deadly chemical cocktails.

Diane Sawyer of Good Morning America was doing a story of a young couple who could not conceive because the woman had Cervical Cancer. The woman's mother carried the babies for her daughter. Of course the story led to promoting the HPV vaccine. Diane Sawyer ended the story with telling the viewers that 250,000 lives are lost each year to Cervical Cancer. This video clip is also on GMA's website. This number isn't even close to being accurate. The true number is under 4,000 per year and continues to decline by 4% each year due to better diagnostic and treatment practices. I am outraged by this misinformation. Are Merck and ABC somehow connected? Where were the fact checkers for this story? This couldn't possibly have been an innocent mistake.

Garbage in, garbage out. Merck can get away with it since there are no repercussions to bad medicine. People have been told all their lives that vaccines will protect them for this and that. Why would anyone stop vaccinnating? When it is too late or people get educated.

We, from down under, have come up with some firsts ie. The Auld Mug for one, but there is one that those of us, who take the time to think, are not at all proud of. I refer to Dr. Frazer's, I think, answer to every maiden's prayer. It is called Gardisal

and earned the good doctor a research medal award. The award was named for and financed by some mob named Merck. I give the doctor the benefit of the doubt and assume he accepted Merck's research in good faith and would have been very pleased with the apparent efficacy of the fruits of his labor, a real little Lilly the Pink. I wonder if it is at all possible to obtain comprehensive figures as suggested by Merck and forward them on to the good doctor with an unbiased critique?

When this vaccine came out I knew that it would be a disaster because not enough testing was doneNow I hear that they may start requiring all young women to get it before a certain age.This is the most ridiculous vaccine ever.Why would you vaccinate some against something that it totally preventable?
