If those three are taken together the severest of influenza (or other viral symptoms) will pass in about 5 hours. Singly they take a little longer.

They don't have a particularly nice floral scent, but I think they very pretty flowers and I don't mind they way they smell.

I often find my doggies pulling off the leaves and eating them and sometimes I catch them eating the flower too:D I always think there must be a reason they are inclined to eat particular herbs or grasses. I notice they eat different grasses at different times of the year and sometimes they don't touch certain herbs and other times they eat the heck out them. I wish I was as in-tune to my body as they are. I know when I need certain things, but I don't think I have ever had the urge to just start eating random herbs.

Just a question, does anyone here know the best ways to store and prepare echinacea, I do have a dehydrator, it would be nice to have both dried and extracts (or a liquid form). Should I dry the whole plant and seperate them into stem, flower, and leaves, or should I combine them all or throw out the stem?????.................I so need to take an herbology class, it's too bad practicing herbology is illegal:(

re: Echinacea Really Works

As HerbDoc points out native Americans used this herb primarily for poisoning cases. I don't hink it is all that great for colds and all those studies done on it are attempts by medical people to show that herbs don't work! My husband and I have both used Echinchea for spider bites very successfully--both internally and topically. Infusions and/or tinctures are the best ways to do herbs--capsules are not the best, they are often over treated or old and I think it is important to taste what you are taking . The best herbs for colds/flus are elderberry extract, lemon balm and raw garlic if you feel it coming on. For improving your immune system use the herbs Herb Doc suggests--reishi and astragulus and of course improve your lifestyle. I had heard of the eclectic physicians--sounds interesting--I will have to read more about them--are there any in existence today?
