Dr Mercola's website is a wonderful forum for the dissemination of information on all the synthetic toxic chemicals and synthetic pharmaceutical drugs that are being produced and are poisoning our planet. This forum is a powerful venue that may get people united on a common goal to preserve the planet so that future generations may thrive in it rather than be condemmed to suffering from disease created by synthetic chemical poisons and pharmaceutical drugs.

97 per cent of all pesticides are chlorine based. That's what makes then so toxic. Chlorine is nature's attack dog. Dioxins result from all types of chlorine-based chemicals including pesticides, solvents, bleach and plastics such as PVC/vinyl.

Dioxin contamination is so widespread even polar bears have it in their blubber. Dioxins are hormone disrupters.

The first chlorine-based pesticide was DDT which was massively sprayed by the US Army in the 1940's followed by extensive fumigation campaigns in the 1950's until Rachel Carson wrote her book, "Silent Spring" in 1962, which should be revived today.

Living in Oklahoma we are well aquainted with the problems of bugs, and people who use literaly tons of insecticides. We use Orange TKO...it seems to discourage the bugs and the smell is lovely.

NOTE TO SAMURAI: if you are afraid of the fiddle back/ brown recluse bite there is a little known procedure that really works. type in a search for Stan Abrams, M_D_ Spider Bite Treatment Treatment for Brown Recluse Spider Bites, & other Venomous Bites & Stings.mht

My son has been bit several times ans this treatment completely "neutralizes" the harmful effects of the venom. The results are amazing!

It's simple guys! IF YOU HAVE KIDS, AND THEY GO TO PUBLIC SCHOOL, MAKE THEM TAKE A LUNCH THAT YOU MADE THEM IN THE MORNING OR THE NIGHT BEFORE. Don't rely on your teachers who are mutes to nutrition to teach them that.

This is so infuriating when there is no need to use chemicals. I spoke to the Board of Selectmen and the school board in my town last year about trying alternatives to chemicals, such as garlic oil and cedar, and even offered to provide about $100 worth of what I use at home for them to test somewhere in town and it fell on deaf ears. We have successfully managed to block plans two years in a row for spraying the school grounds in September, but that doesn't combat the ariel spraying done in my area several times per summer. I understand the concern as I live in an area where EEE kills a few people each year and West Nile virus us an issue as well, but toxins just aren't necessary.

FYI we use a combination of cedar-garlic granules, and a garlic oil spray, around our yard every three weeks from June - August. We have a swimming pool and a nice yard that was unusable from mid-afternoon and later when we moved into our house last year. The natural treatments mean we can use our yard bug-free any time of day. People are shocked to not be bitten my mosquitos in our yard. We also use cedar-cide spray when we go out and that does the job nicely. We go through appx. $200/year to treat the yard and it's worth every penny. We inherited a mosquito magnet from a family member and we've never even set it up - that's how effective the yard treatment is.

I'm Home Schooling this year for the first time. My Son is very active in sports and will continue to be, he does other social activities, Look at the kids today, do you want yours in with ALL of them?

My major concern this time of year is the incessant spraying for mosquitoes in the Chicago suburban area. The Schaumburg, Illinois area, home to The Optimal Wellness Center, is sprayed with a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide. Worse still, my town of Bartlett, Illinois is sprayed with an organophosphate insecticide. Organophosphates, like the infamous Dursban, were outlawed from home use because of their toxicity. So it's safer to get my exposure from "professionals" than from my own efforts? It's in the air, on the lawn furniture, drifting into kid's pools, on their outdoor toys and on the grass. I could predict that if you spoke with your neighbors in areas where spraying is being done, they either have no idea that it is or if they do, they have no idea what is being sprayed. It's done in the dark of night with new, quiet ULV sprayers. Now, after the children touch their outdoor toys and play in the grass, I'm sure they wash up before touching their mouths or food. Sure they do . . . As Donna2 said any one toxic input by itself, as many EPA studies will attest, may not be that terrible. It's the constant exposure at home, at work, at school and at restaurants that is the problem. I can choose what I use at home (excepting of course what the previous owners used) and what I eat, but I get really incensed when my community is being fogged with organophosphates that are PROVEN to be dangerous. West Nile Virus . . . let's expose millions of people to toxic chemicals to save a few folks from a disease that is here to stay. Long term effects? Who cares? The current local officials will long be out of office. Those of us still alive now have most likely been bitten and are now immune. I wish someone would study that possibility!

I was thinking the same thing as Bill when I read this article. Miabella7 have you considered this: We couldn't afford to purchase our own curricula this year for our kids and they've been subjected to state-sponsored indoctrination for the last 3 years. But here in Ohio, I discovered Virtual Charter Schools. We just enrolled our children in one that is also available in several states (Connections Academy). They provide the computers, subsidize your Internet connection and give you the curriculum (They pull from several, including Calvert). My local school wasn't happy about pulling my kids out, but I got tired of having to spend 1-2 hours EVERYDAY explaining the concepts they were supposed to be learning in school and deprogramming the garbage out of them (what they heck were they teaching my kids during the 6 hours they had them?).

The state is still very much in my business, but since I'm sitting down with my kids, I can tell them, 'You need to know this to pass a test, but it's baloney.'

There are several other Virtual Public Schools offering more goodies, but CA had the most flexibility and the smallest metaphorical nose stuck in my business. The ideal is still actual homeschooling, but until I can afford to purchase my own curriculum, this'll have to do.

Interestingly enough, even though this is public schooling in a home environment, they STILL want my kids immunized. Go figure.

I walked through our local soccer field with my pooch one day and saw this unusual 'foam stuff' around the place and ignorantly thought some kids had been playing with washing detergent!

The next time we went there I saw the 'Weed Controllers' in the act applying the pesticde.

This huge field is used constantly for numerous sporting events and many dog walkers!

As far as home schooling goes it is fine if you can do it - & have the patience as well!!!! But I think kids need to be 'socialised' with other kids - they crave to be around their peer group - and when they do enter the ''real world' school does able them the ability to communicate/socialise with people from all walks. Parents have the major role of educating their children in all things no matter if they are in the school system or home school.

Pesticides are one substance we CAN do without. I have a couple of stories for you:

My son went to a high school that merged with another high school. While the new facility was being built, he attended classes at the oldest school. There were rats, roaches, bats, mold and pieces of ceiling falling down in classrooms. He was there for two years. They routinely sprayed for bugs and he was sick all the time with extreme stomach pains. He had never had any kind of health problem before that. After he graduated, he went to college, married and tried unsuccessfully to start a family. If was discovered he had low sperm counts and low motility. Hmmm. Could that be pesticide related?

Next story:

We lived for a couple of years near a golf course, where my husband would run in the evenings with our young female toy poodle. At four years old, she developed tumors of the mammary glands which had to be surgically removed. I stopped the practice of golf course running for her after reading about the prevalence of breast cancer in women golfers. Coincidence?

Talk to your school board, arm yourself with all the available research. Become an expert. If you have children, you need to be knowledgeable about the effects of pesticide exposure on our delicate indocrine systems. Study your facts then get out in your communities and let your sane and educated voices be heard. And be persistent.

We live in a repressive system. We're being forcefully exposed to pesticides and toxic chemicals sprayed by government agencies. In the 1940's , by government decree, the interiors of buildings were sprayed with DDT which is a highly persistent chlorinated pesticide, meaning its residues are present today in older homes. Add to this the continued pesticide spraying campaigns of today and you have a very poisoned planet, getting worse every day: just look at the tons of toxic chemical products on the shelves at Home Depots, Lowes, Walgreens and grocery stores, waiting to be purchased and applied to further poisoning, with the blessing of "public safety" government agencies.

Now that it is summer and most of the kids are out of school, they still like to go there to play. I am so sure there won't be any "keep off the grass signs", like there should be. What really gets me is when people have to spray themselves from head to foot with OFF because of a few mosquitos. Also around here, people use ROUNDUP like it's freaking water.

There are pest control companies that offer safe (safer?) alternatives to those nasty chemicals. They have programs specifically designed for schools, etc.

My eleven year old daughter was at a softball game the other day. The girls had been warming up in the outfield for a while throwing, dropping and picking up the ball and throwing it again. After about 10 or 15 minutes someone yelled "Hey, tell the girls they just sprayed the field so be careful."

Why would you spray the field the day of a game in the middle of the season???? And, what are they supposed to do to "be careful"? Run to the washroom and wash their hands each time they pick up the ball that falls on the grass they just sprayed with some chemical??
