For 4-5 years I suffered from extreme to mild swelling, redness/purplish, burning, heat in the facial mask area because my body could not process or deal with the amount of tap water I was drinking. People from high school did not recognize me a year after graduation and I hadn't gained a pound! The week I switched to bottled water the swelling went down and never came back even close to what it had been. I now supplement mostly with Poland Spring Water, some Aquafina, and the British Berkefield home system. I drink and cook with these waters. As far as the article on Aquafina, its no surprise, Aquafina never claimed to use spring water, but its ozonated, reversis-osmosis filtered etc.....the article is slightly misleading, making Aquafina look worse that it should. My face swells from tap water, but it does not swell from Aquafina, or Poland Spring or British Berkefield. Its terrible to hear about cities not allowing bottled spring water at town events but allowing pop. They should not allow pop and allow spring water. One question I suggest asking is "What is the healthiest option?"

When Dr. Bruce Wachter was building my solar-powered wilderness home which gets all its water from catchment in the 1990s, he researched water purifications systems and set me up with a stainless steel Seagull unit. It meets federal standards as a PURIFICATION unit, not just a filter. Tests using "worst-case" water show it removes chemicals, viruses, bacteria, cysts, etc., WITHOUT removing minerals and electrolytes -- and it does this without power, using a microfine filter, electrostatic filter and carbon block technologies. All in a really compact, 1 gallon per minute unit that fits undersink and costs less than $400. These initially were developed for marine use, to purify seawater on boats. I haven‘t found a more effective system since. You can access some data about it on this company‘s salespage: http://www.shokos.com/seagull-tech-spects.htm.

Hope that helps. I‘m trying to find if they have an affiliate program because I‘d like to promote these.

I‘m curious whether the plastic encased and tubed units re-introduce BPA and other plastics toxins?

Best,
kwc

That's good, but it does leave the water acidic. You must bring the pH back up before drinking it. You can do this by adding prill beads that release calcium or magnesium (your choice) back into the water. This takes a few hours. You can test your water at intervals to see how alkaline it is and remove the prill beads when it gets to the pH you want. Save the prill beads for the next batch of water you distill. Not very expensive and reusable because it doesn't take much to remineralize the water. Distilling also leaves the water dead. But so does running it through a pipe or letting it sit in bottles. The very best water you can get is 6-sided water (hexagonal) which is found naturally in snow water. Our cells take in this water with the greatest ease. Did you know that your liver can only process 1/2 cup of water every 30 minutes. When you drink more than that it does not go into your system to give your cells the the opportunity to take it in. Instead the excess gets shuffled to the kidneys. Even then the cells may not take it in if it's not in a matrix it will accept. You can buy a vitalizer that will help your distilled water form into the six sided matrix needed for the best assimilation. This technology looks to me to hold the most promise for giving us the best water. Water that our cells recognize and accept. Read more about it at www.aquatechnology.net/hexagonalwater.html

Question: Do we use ultra-violet vs. filtering? The ultra-violet does a great job killing the bacteria, but you still end up drinking the dead bacteria. With our filetering system, we filter down to 1/10 th the size of a micron.

Most systems out there do down to 2 to 5 microns. We take everything out of the water, and add back in coral calcium, magnetite, and other essential minerals that are essential to the body. We also magnetize the water and bolmbard it with far infrared. These are just some of the questions that people have had, if there are any other questions, please contact us. When you go onto our site, highlight "discover it" go to products, go to Environment and then click on Pi-Mag Water. Toni and Eric

I have been using RO since 2002, and typically, at a new filter change, the solid carbon block filters used in the Krystal Pure system remove around 90% of the contaminants in our water including chlorine and flouride (obviously, that changes as contaminants collect on filters - that's what TDS meters are for). That being said, I'm much more comfortable drinking "stripped" water than drinking from the tap. They don't put the "danger" warnings on those chemical containers at the water plant without good reason.

Sorry, guys, with the relocation costs and taking care of the family, we can't do a filtration system or well right now. We are saving what we can to do something about it. At this point we're purchasing spring water in the clear containers to drink. At least it tastes really good. I'm boiling the water before washing the dishes and I wear gloves. It's really ridiculous. Can't wait to fix the problem. Anyway, I was getting these intuitions that bleach was in that filtered water, and then later on the guy who services it to change the filters actually told me yes it contains bleach! This is VERY dangerous to our health, yet no one seems to know about this! Anyone know about it besides me? Also, does anyone have any comments about Perrier mineral water - I've started using this, thinking it may be the best bet as far as buying water at the store. I think it's hard to trust ANYTHING in a grocery store nowadays as you can't be sure what's really in it or if it's what it says it is. Anything in a plastic bottle can be harmful to your health as what's in the plastic leaks into your body. I think alot more research needs to be done by everyone about what kind of water is best for your health. The comments herein are all good points and help us to figure it all out. I used to think that even if the bottled water came originally from the tap, if it is being filtered, then what's the problem, and I also would drink Desani as I thought it did taste good; but after reading everyone's comments herein, I doubt that now, because of the comments about problems with RO and with the plastics.

It is usually available at public events like foot races and Derby Festival events and I heard recently they are delivering cases of it to local homeless shelters during this heatwave. According to them (but should I really trust the water company?) we have some of the cleanest tap water in the country. I'm sure it is chlorinated and I believe it is fluoridated - so not totally ideal - but I have definitely tasted nastier water in other towns. I could be wrong, because I have been drinking it all my life, but it does taste pretty good. I get annoyed when I see families at the grocery loading cases of bottled water into their carts. A filter on the kitchen sink is simple to install and use and doesn't produce so much garbage!

I have a Culligan filter on my drinking water at home, and drink filtered tap water at work. I only buy bottled water when I am out and thirsty. This is rare, because I usually bring water from home but am faced with the same dilemma I have read here - what the heck is the safest container to carry it in!? Sadly, I usually re-use Aquafina bottles, because they have those easy-to-fill wide mouths. I know this is bad, but I don't know what else to do! Nothing tastes as good as cool water from a real glass!
