However: if you check the reason you will find out it is because of lack of the enzine to digest Vit D. It also can cuse fradigal bones because, you need Vit D to abosorbe calcium. I looked it up and diabetics esp. have Vit D deficenacy due to the pancarease not working. So get our in the sun soake up the rays. Most of us cannot take a pill or flld due to this condition.

He had an article about it, that mentioned how sun dried mushrooms can have huge amounts of Vit D.

But no mention of it at all since then. Mabye there is a reason but just surpised he has't brought it up in any of the many recent articles on vit D.

The one recently found iceman, forget name, had dried mushrooms on him, maybe that's how early man got Vit. D in the winter in the North...

I took heed of the recommendation to increase vitamin D supplementation to high dosages only to discover that it caused low-level depression so have returned to my normal supplemental daily dosage of nil and feel normal again! I may return to taking vitamin D in supplemental form but it will be at a much reduced level than is currently recommended.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend Marna, but I thought I would mention that there are many other factors that can contibute to poor skin health, like poor diet and the resulting nutritional deficiencies and toxin overloads from processed foods, poor water and chronic dehydration, smoking, drinking, etc. I'm not suggesting that your friend dealt with any of these problems, but I do know from personal experience that overexposure to sun doesn't necessarily result in the kind of leathery skin you describe. I have spent years in the golf business and many full days in the sun and I am sometimes told how young and smooth my skin looks. I am from northern European descent, 51 years of age, and don't wear sunblock or even a hat most of the time. I used to smoke and drink until my early thirties, and had a terrible diet, and I looked worse then than I do now. Just sayin'...

Given a "good diet" I tend to think that most people have little to worry about in terms of getting too much sunshine. I work outside year round. For the most part I am never sick--although for some reason, after not getting the flu for years and years and years, I had it this year. I don't have a skin cancer (one of the reasons for warning), but, neither do I go out and "worship" the sun--sunbathing. I just work and play in it.

If one understands that one was created to be in sunshine, then....

If one understands that we evolved--that happened in sunshine as well. Either way, we are creatures whose habitat includes sunshine, except for when it is dark. It stands to reason that would continue to be our healthiest environment.

My friend Marna, when she was 45, had skin that looked like tanned leather, stiff and rigid, locked into deep permanent wrinkles because she spent so much time outdoors. She had spent years outdoors hiking. Her muscles were strong but her face and hands were stiff and rigid from long long hours in the sun. She died before she was 50, of cancer.

Dr. Mercola has done much good for the world, and he is right that we all need some sun. Few of us who work indoors, locked away in offices during the day, get enough. But it's important not to go from erring on the side of caution, to erring on the side of overindulgence, or you may damage your skin and your health in ways that cannot be reversed. Enjoy the sun, but don't overdo it.
