She told the girl "If it's in everything, how can you eat it in moderation?" Sad truth is that people do believe the advertisements and the really, really sad thing is that school is feeding HFCS to my children everyday. I read somewhere that a prison gets organic local produce - they are getting fed better than our children. Of course, I've begged and pleaded with my dd to take her lunch but she tells me it's not cool to bring - nobody does that.

Corporations are allowed to be protected like people but behave like psychopaths by being incorporated. It's just a law, it needs to be changed. Lobbyists are allowed to legally bribe congress members. Lobbying should be illegal for businesses. The law was created to protect the individual person not some incorporated virus. Congress are allowed to lie, directly toss out their oath and claim it is in our best interest. You mean because we don't have millions to hand over to them? No members of any office should be able to run if they or their family members hold any compromising interest. This is done in the smallest of company's why not in the most important company there is. A member of office should be treated like our teachers. If they are not really dedicated to the cause they will choose a different profession because there is no money in it. Put an end to campaigning and there will be no need for these bribery funds or any way to legally bribe. All candidates should get EQUAL time on public access television. That goes for the debates too. No private run, special questions list or black listed candidates. Period. We focus on these things and all other problems will be resolved.

I've also written my local reps. I received a generic response claiming some good things he has done so far. Included pat on the back monumental moments he mentioned were the increase in MPG and the resolution of the Valerie Paine scandal.

Chrysler had a car in 1925 that got 25 MPG and it was heavier than my 2005 neon that gets about the same in city. This is the best they could do in 80 years?

The Valerie incident created; she was exposed as a CIA agent only to draw attention away from the fact that news was being brought back from Iraq that there was no WMD's.

You all may already be familiar with Rumsfeld being the CEO of Searle Pharmaceuticals during Reagan's term. He also made 12 million personally when he played broker and Seale was sold to Monsanto (two peas in a pod there). He has gone from 14 million personal wealth to 400 million through his involvement and investments in the war machine. He also has huge interests in biological disease/virus by way of patents on vaccinations. If the country ever has epidemic outbreaks he stands to earn huge profits. And he is just one of them.

As for my personal plan on poisons such as high fructose corn syrup? I don't drink any soda. I don't eat any processed food, except a few organic and I read labels very carefully.

Between this crap and Aspartame it's hard to find anything decent to eat anymore. Our wallets and phone/email/letters direct to companies are the only hope we have. We have to take responsibility, not the government.

Also, has it ever occurred to anyone, that politicians are also effected by this same mercury toxification and can therefore not be counted on, to make meaningful, positive changes to the way things are done now!

The way I see it, changes have to be made by people, that still have some common sense and these changes can only be done to themselves, because it is certainly an exercise of frustration to try and educate people without the thinking capacity or - willingness to learn.

I shudder to contemplate the type of people there will be in only another generation (20 years), that have had their brains completely poisened by to-days practices of all kinds!!!

Isn't it interesting how little the general public knows about how processed foods are actually created? I think that the more this information became public knowledge, the more people would choose unprocessed foods. A 'free' market economy only really works like it's intended to when there if accurate and freely available information for the consumer.

True, but it's equally necessary for the consumers to read and pay attention to that information. Unfortunately, same as with politics, most people don't bother to know what's going on.

can't we thank coke for this?

I've read that when lead was taken out of gasoline violent crimes declined instantly.

I teach in a big city public school, and we have a factory over the hill

that still puts out 100 lbs of mercury a year into the air.

And we have young kids killing each other left and right in the valley.

And for big city (1/2 poverty=minority population; other half mostly = world (war) refugees whose two parents are working) this is a good one.

But there is continual craziness in 1/3rd of the population, and 2/3rd of them have dropped elsewhere by 10th grade.

The Asian population is still eating a mostly traditional diet, and they are more focused, respectful and attentive.

But you can teach these kids things and a vast majority of them will not remember it the next day.

New math and new science are certainly a significant part of the equation, but the food and air is a huge variable.
