Interestingly, fluoride is tossed around like the junk leftover commidity it is. This weekend, Salt Lake City experienced a hydrofluorosilicic acid spill just below the Parley's water treatment station. There was no concern publicly, because it was reported that clean-up crews had things in hand. Meanwhile, reports ranged from 1500 to over 3000 gallons of this phosphate industry waste by-product that is being used to benefit human health. Meanwhile, the only proviso given to citizens was not to wade in the creek for a few days. At the same time, it is certain that many fish will die and additional animals which use the creek as a watering hole will also suffer negative consequences. In addition, this will end up in the ground water, which, as we are learning now, will leech back into drinking waters and wells.

Fluoride's other dire consequence is that it locks onto thyroid gland iodine receptors, thus blocking iodine uptake. Add that to chlorine and bromine (in our bleached flours), and no wonder we are a country of immune-compromised people. Being so industrialized and technologically advanced, we are still among the poorest in health, which is a timebomb. Don't question why so many doctors want to give thyroxin and synthroid and radioactive iodine treatments.

The biggest warning is: How well will your thyroid be protected in the event of radioactive fallout? We just missed one stupid Air Force screw-up of a B-52 bomber travelling with cruise missiles from North Dakota to Tennessee. What if there HAD been an accident? Many know that there are nuclear drills being run in major cities in the US right now!

Get your iodine. Stop the bromine, fluoride, and chlorine, and take back your health sovereignty!

Reverse osmosis may not be the complete answer though - it filters out the minerals. Dr Zoltan Rona says that it is 'acceptable for regular use provided minerals are supplemented'.

I signed the petition last nite and got a personal reply from Congressman Oberstar Minnesota), this is his reply:

Thank you for expressing your thoughts on safe drinking water. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

There is no clear evidence that fluoride in drinking water causes health problems. Drinking water with fluoride levels below 1.5 milligrams per liter (mg/L) is not a health concern according to the American Dental Association. In fact, the association endorses the fluoridation of water supplies and the use of products containing fluoride as safe and effective measures for preventing tooth decay. Fluoride may also reduce the incidence of osteoporosis and hip fractures.

I believe we should improve and maintain drinking water quality, while remaining judicious over drinking water additives such as fluoride and the benefits it can provide for the public.

It's disappointing to know Mr. Oberstar is blinded by this fluoride theory. What I'd like to know is, why are there no links above backing up Dr. Mercola's statements? I do believe that fluoride is unsafe, however, I'd like him to post the links to the proof he cites up here in his article. It'd be easier for those of us who would like to then forward it to our state rep's, they don't have time to dig this stuff up themselves.

Also, RO is great, but it also produces a more acidic water. What other systems eliminate toxins while giving a better and more ph balanced h2o?

I signed the petition too, and I'm glad it's open to residents of all countries (one can select from U.S., Canada, or Other)

Fluoride is a poison! It shouldn't be added to anything that's going to be ingested. Stopping the water fluoridation is a great first step. Toothpaste, supplements, etc, will surely follow.

Fluorine and not fluoride, is the halogen needed for healthy teeth - it can be found in mother's milk, seaweed, etc. But being volatile, the food source must be eaten raw, not cooked in any way.

There were people in teaching positions 28 years ago campaigning against Fluoride. Of course the drug industry hadn't gotten quite so powerful yet.

The only RO that can remove all flouride and all known contamants from water is from Aqua -Thin. Contrary to some posts on this site your dont get your minerals from your drinking water any way, you get them from your good organic food. The minerals in most water are too large and unavailable. So RO your water and add salt if you want but eat good food.

How Dentists Manipulate Legislators to Win Fluoridation Battles

Ignoring the democratic process and discouraging a healthy dialogue, California fluoridationists worked secretly, quickly and dishonestly to pass a 1995 California fluoridation law, that forces most California communities to add fluoride into their water supplies, whether Californians want it or not, according to “The Fluoride Victory,” published in the Journal of the California Dental Association.(1)

California Assemblywoman Jackie Speier, working with the California Dental Association (CDA), sponsored a fluoridation bill, eventually signed into law, forcing all California water companies, with 10,000 service connections, to add nonessential fluoride chemicals into the drinking water to prevent tooth decay, without constituent or local governing body approval, discussion or vote.

“To make the most of the element of surprise, it was decided that Speier would wait until the last possible moment to introduce her fluoridation bill,” writes author Joanne Boyd.

“’We pretty much knew we’d catch (the anti-fluoridation faction) by surprise because it wasn’t well known outside of the dental community what was going on,' said Liz Snow, assistant director of CDA’s Government Relations (lobbying) Office. ‘But we didn’t want to give the other side any more time to mobilize than absolutely necessary,’” writes Boyd.

William Keese, CDA Director of Government Relations, a lobbyist, received many compliments from other lobbyists on the campaign.

“I wouldn’t say we pulled a rabbit out of a hat, but it was a coup. We worked hard at getting prepared and using the element of surprise to our advantage. We moved fast and did it in one year," Boyd quotes Keese as saying.

Knowledge is power. Unfortunately, most people are unaware that for 60 years we've been LIED to about the serious health risks of daily ingesting toxic fluoride over a lifetime. The 2006 National Research Council report cites fluoridated municipal water as the major source of fluoride ingestion. It also clearly cites newly identified adverse health effects of fluoride--most of which can occur at, and even below the 1 part per million level used in fluoridation. These include dental fluorosis, impaired thyroid function, pre-diabetes, joint inflammation, brain cell damage and, possibly, osteosarcoma (bone cancer). Hip fractures and lowered IQ in children were found to occur dangerously close to fluoridation levels. In addition, we are bombarded with countless other food and pharmaceutical sources of fluoride exposure--even in unfluoridated cities-- all of which must be factored in an individual's total daily intake making any margin of safety--non existent.

I have sent several pieces of information to our city and recieved not even an acknowlegment of receipt. Up until a few years ago we were flouride free. Then they put it in, so I began buying spring water. An expensive way to avoid the flouride. One day while shopping there was an advertisement at the grocery store about Zephyrhills Spring Water adding flouride! I was floored, as the whole reason for my buying the water was to get away from the flouride. Not only that, nobody will answer my queries about whether or not this water now contains flouride. I also saw on T.V. news reports that they are saying bottled water is dangerous for kids because it does NOT contain flouride. Now many so-called pure, spring water contains flouride without our knowledge. I want to buy an R.O. system for my kitchen but I do not know which one will work the best that is also affordable. Suggestions?

All of this will likely come to nothing. The fluoridation program, both here and in the UK, has been pushed with full knowledge of the incalculable damage it does to the human body and mind in addition to ruining our teeth. Without fluoride the "health care" and pharmaceutical industries would suffer severe damage from loss of revenue. Furthermore, the process of turning America into a fascist police state depends upon fluoride to make Americans docile and less resistant to authority. The efficacy of this was demonstrated by the *** and the Russians during WWII. They heavily fluoridated the prisoner's water, a practice common in prisons and many public schools in the in the U.S. today.

These most vile of humans still have the even deadlier mercury amalgam fillings providing their steady dose of mercury to our systems which are either causing or exacerbating a plethora of human ailments like allergies, asthma, depression, Alzsheimers, multiple sclerosis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Juvenile arthritis and dozens of other horrors.

This is a topic worth mentioning to everyone you know. You never know when it will strike a chord.

I thought pediatricians had gotten the word that fluoride was contraindicated for babies, so I was shocked when I was telling my neighbor about the book _The Fluoride Deception_ and she said her 9-month-old granddaughter had been prescribed fluoride drops! After I told her about the dangers of that, she called her daughter and told her to discontinue the drops.

Moms and Grandmas, if you can afford it, give a copy of _The Fluoride Deception_ to the children's doctors. If more doctors learn the truth and get behind the ban on fluoridation of water, hopefully it will make a difference.

Why only push for water? Sodium fluoride in toothpaste is swallowed by young children. Sodium fluoride has been used as a rat poison. Various compounds of fluoride are used in water supplies and just because the compound happens to contain the fluoride molecule does not mean that the compound is safe. The water department in my city buys hydroflourosilicic acid, which is a by-product of fertilizer manufacture, to dump into the water of this community at he dosage of 1.0 ppm. There is no good way to dispose of this highly toxic and corrosive substance, so it is sold to cities, in 55 gallon drums with poison labels on them, to be dumped into water supplies and processed by people. This should be considered a criminal act, but it is not. I have seen these drums, and I have seen the corrosion on the drums due to dripping of the compound from these drums I even have pictures of it. All forms of fluoride that do not occur in nature should be considered for extinction. Nature's fluoridated waters cannot be improved upon. And we need to find ways to dispose of toxic fluoride by-products, other than feeding them to Americans.
