So, I can get salmonella from raw chicken too while handling before cooking. Does this mean eventually the FDA will tell us we can no longer buy raw meat? Whatever.........this is getting ridiculous and they are taking everything away from us. We can make up our own minds about what we want to eat and what we buy. I am so sick of all this garbage.........we can no longer make our own choices. Shame on the FDA. Get rid of them!

In response to "Mark Fletcher's" argument that walnuts are a better choice than almonds is misguided. Agreed a variety of nuts supply unusual varieties of nutrients ( I.E. Brazil nut have the highest source of selinium etc.) The simple fact that walnuts indeed have a higher Omega 3 content is not the only option for a source of that nutrient. To say almonds supply a high source Omega 6 may be indeed correct but remember the fact that almonds are alkaline, more so than other nuts. The acid - alkaline balance diet tries to reinforce high alkaline food source for optimin health. Even though being alkaline protects against most disease, a very unique situation occures when and if cancer appears in that almonds should be dropped from an alkaline diet because many cancers thrive with high levels of Omega 6 - walnuts, not being alkaline would be not be a food choice in helping to cure cure cancer. Omega 3 or not.

I will sign that petition and email once again almond butter and ask them if their almonds are now pasteurized. If so I am never buying "raw" almond butter again. Not enough peole rose up over pasteurized milk anow now this, soon it will be something else. More forced vaccines, more forced irradiation, forced fluoride, until we are totally dominated because too many sat back "enjoying life" while all their rights slowly were stolen by our evil government. Fluoride is a wonderful example. Even if you are brainwashed and beleive in forced water fluoridation, you failed to speak out on free choice so the gov't will keep on stealing every God given right until they are all gone.

I have heard so much about this on both Mercola and NewsNet. But nowhere have I heard a clear statement as to exactly how much nutrition is lost, except from the government that says no nutrition is lost.

Has anyone found a report that says exactly how much nutrition is lost from a 5 second burst of steam?

Until I know about this, I would keep my powder dry about expressing an opinion for or against this proposal.

What nut thought up this less-than-bright-idea?

To start with, WHERE did the Salmonella infected almonds come from? Maybe it was simply a case of poor hygiene somewhere in the food chain in 2001 and 2004?

By all means, let's over-react and destroy the nutrient qualities of ALL almonds in the whole world just to be safe from a few nuts!!!!

Soon, perhaps, we will be told what time to eat--when to flush and --what to wear. Perhaps someone will even come help dress me. Start planting your own trees if you live in an area that supports them...a wonderful variety is non-pareil--with a shell soft enough to peal with your fingers.

I am going to buy a few ahead--then quit buying any for a year---. if everyone could do that--it would make a HUGE statement...just like the growth hormone thing with milk---Oregon is pretty much free of it now. No sales = Change of venue..try it--you'll like it!!!!

When you cook every single bit of food that a dog eats, and keep him on a diet that is devoid of enzymes, nutrients, and vitamins that exist only in living food, you get a dog that is fat, loses his hair in patches or sheds constantly, and has dull eyes.

It appears that the government wants us to live on a similar state, since they seem to be at war with ram or natural foods of any sort. They might not feed us Alpo, or Purina Human Chow, but they seem to want to achieve the equivalent, by outlawing raw milk, eggs, or any vegatable that has not bee irradiated, or poisoned with gasses, or stored in nitrogen, or pasteurized at high heat.

Is it any surprize that the U.S. Public seems to be filled with unnaturally obese people with skin lesions and hair loss and dull lifeless eyes. He even have places to put us out of our misery now, but they are called Hospices instead of the pound. Arff, Arfff.

According to LivingTreeCommunity.com the request for extension has been denied. They're going to start zapping our almonds eff. Sept. 1st.

To quote from their latest e-newsletter:

There's been a new turn in the struggle for aliveness. Unbelievably, the California Almond Board's request to the USDA to delay implementation of the “pasteurization” rule for six months has been turned down. They are going ahead with plans to fumigate the new crop beginning September 1st. Remember that the Almond Board asked for the delay not because of your concerns and letters and petitions but merely because they felt there was not enough time to get the equipment in place.

Help get the word out, contact your local newspapers, tv, radio and ask them to run a story on this craziness. Might not help, but it can't hurt!

As a matter of fact this is typical of our government trying to make things right for "Big Pharma." The tendacies of raw foods to heal, and maintain good health is reason enough for the government to change things for reason which make little sense, helps us remain in a state poor health. Big Pharma's goal of making sure every person in the world is somehow on some form of prescription drugs is at hand. Look at the billions they can earn. Dollar sign eyeballs. You think?

Hard to undertand why the government thinks it's doing US a favor by 'protecting' US from microbes when it's allowing the glad-handing business types in the food industry to blur the lines defining nutrition by calling processed junk as 'organic'. One of the other respondents addressed a government role of 'collecting taxes'. Isn't the federal income tax a stop-gap measure implemented to help fund WWII and supposed to end at the end of that war?

Well, I'll stop buying almonds. I'll eat walnuts, cashews, macadamias, pecans. I wonder if there were a boycott before the legislation went into effect if it could stop it...?

CA almond growers will be losing quite a large amount of their export business since the EU has banned propylene oxide. I'm sure big business will try to force them to take their falsely labeled "raw" almonds just like they're trying to force GMO's on them as a voilation of WTO treaties. Seems like "they" want to make the whole world sick.

Live on or near an organic farm, and grow your own food. Try to save wilderness because there are still wild animals and wild food that is very healthy to eat. Get rid of your lawns and pesticides. Grocery stores just can't be trusted anymore. Bummer, they really are convenient, but being healthy is the ultimate "convenience," becuse without that we can't do much else. Simplify!

Even though big agriculture is trying to kill me, I deeply love and nurture my garden...
