Is it possible that many highly -touted, peer-reviewd, double blind, placebo-controlled, control-group controlled studies are flawed?

In my opinion, yes.

As Dr Mercola points out above, coffee and peanuts are among the most highly pesticided crops grown commercially. To factor out the effects of these toxins, a control group should run the identical tests on a non- pesticided, natural, organic, shade-grown coffee.

Ever hear of this happening in a commercail study? I haven't. (If they did indeed use organic coffee in this study, then ignore my rant, with apologies for taking up your time)

Then there are other factors, like the int'g observation by Peter D'Adamo that blood types O and A do indeed exhibit marked differences in their reactions to coffee (incidentally, Dr D'Adamo, are you using organic or commercial coffees in your testing?!)

Until things like these are factored out, how much credibility can we put in the study results?

End of rant

Does this make it a drug? Tea is a great stimulant. Does this make it a drug? What is a drug? The FDA and their cronies, Big Pharma, would love to make them drugs so they can patent them. Drugs are defined as artificial stimulants that are the only things that can: Prevent, Treat, or Cure disease (by artificially mandated illegal law professed by the FDA and the drug companies). In their natural state, coffee and tea do not cause disease unless you ingest them as your primary food. Then they are not the cause of disease, they are a reason for the lack of proper nutrition. There are other things you must ingest to ensure you get what the body does not process to ensure survival. I have been drinking coffee since age five (yes, my Great Grandfather gave me coffee in 1955, and for several years after, as a "stimulant" to wake me at 4 am to go fishing for stripers in California). I have been drinking it at the rate of 2-10 cups a day since then. Most recently 2-4 cups a day. Other than a minor "tic" that causes my head to violently turn to the left and my left eye to wink at the same time, I am virtually symptom free of all the purported side effects of coffee. Hehehehehehe. So the next time you read the """RESULTS""" of a meta-analysis or a """STUDY""" on the effects of coffee...follow the money! Who did the study? Who paid to have the study done? And, most importantly, who stands to benefit from the outcome of the study?

Call it soul stroking. As for BP--I manage to keep it under control (avg. 130/90, which at my age --65-- I am told is not too bad) but I need to take a calcium channel blocker (brand is Adalat) to do so . I have tried umpteen "natural" ways to control the BP and none of them work! I also live fairly stress-free, watch my diet, etc. but I chose to stay on the Adalat because I figure whatever damage is being done to my body over time is still less severe than a stroke or heart attack. Neither Dr. Mercola nor any of the other cyber-docs have provided an alternative to the chemical calcium channel blocker, at least not as far as I have been able to find out. It would be good to know just why the calcium goes into the wrong place and what could be done about it. Anyone have any pertinent information?
