Medicare has the lowest overhead of any health insurance - under 5%. The problem i that our government under George Bush and beginning under Ronald Reagan has been systematically robbing and failing to adequately fund both the Social Security and Medicare Systems. If there were no cap at $90,000 of income there would be no problem with shortfalls there would be surplus. If the federal government was unable to use those funds for anything other than their intended purpose there would be no problem. We are the only major industrialized country that does not provide health care for all of its citizens. The same applies to school. In Europe, Russia, Japan, China, Korea and even Cuba if you have the grades, you can go to school free all the way through post doctorate studies. At no time in our history has free market economic policies benefited the middle class or poor. We are a system of checks and balances. When too much power concentrates in any area private or public serious abuses occur. Graduated income tax allows people to earn wealth but not unlimited destabilizing wealth. Anti trust and anti monopoly laws exist to prevent business/corporate excess. Checks and balances between the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government combined with a concerned and vigilant populace in a representative democracy prevents government abuses. Right now the problem is corporatism and the destabilization of labor and government that has occurred due to the unchecked rise of corporate power that began its current cycle of destabilizing abuse under Ronald Reagan. No matter how brilliant an idea you have, if you can not execute that idea by yourself, than you are equally dependent on capital and labor to express that idea. Capital, labor and management are no less than equal partners and the distribution of wealth or loss in an enterprise should and ought to reflect that inherent equality. It is the responsibility of government to fairly regulate that balance. Get it?

The U.S. is racing toward hyperinflation. Government leaders decided in 1994 not to have recessions because politically they hurt their party. Avoiding recessions is accomplished by increasing the money supple, ie. more debt, public and private.

The vast majority of inflation is because of currency debasement, printing too much money and creating too much debt. The U.S. is beyond the point of no return.

Ron Paul in '08!

My apologies for being redundant but Ron Paul in '08! is the ANSWER. I'm not kidding. Don't take my word do your own research. look at his voting record. See why taxpayer groups love him. I met the man I shook his hand and I heard him speak. My opinion on all politicians was negative until I Met Ron Paul. Ive been fascinated with economics for over 20 years its rare when you meet someone who not only understands it but also has a keen interest to do something about it. Ron Paul is such a man.

If I had to describe Ron Paul in 3 sentences it would be:

1.RON PAUL IS NOT A PUPPET( No one owns him).

2.Ron Paul BELIEVES in our CONSTITUTION and votes to uphold and adhere to it(The Constitution is his guiding principle).

3.Ron Paul is deeply worried about our nations financial situation

Look at his voting record it is the most amazing thing you will ever see. See if you disagree with anything he voted on. His reasoning is impressive. He has 10 year track record in the House of Representatives. Most politicians go back and forth this guy is Mr consistent.

Let me see....we've got a war that will probably cost a trillion dollars, defense budget that exceeds what the next ten countries combined spend, defense contractors that have "disappeared" over eight billion dollars in Iraq alone, massive tax cuts for people who don't need them in a time of fiscal crisis, and what do we go after? The social programs, of course. I agree that the whole health care system badly needs to be overhauled, and that the insurance and pharmaceutical companies are robbing us, but overfiuding the defense department and underfunding social services and then pointing to government "immorality" when a deficit shows up is more than a bit disingenuous.

The real 'solution' of course, is to stay healthy so that most of the services offered by corporate drug/medical companies are not needed (and pass this message on to your kids and grandkids). I'm 67, retired, covered by Part A&B. I signed up with Humana who covers the equivalent of Parts A&B&D at no extra cost. In addition, thru the Silver Sneakers program, I have a free membership in the local YMCA. The only cost for my drugs is a $4 copay each month for generic Zocor.. but, thru the increased exercise and a decent diet, my HDL has increased to the point where I no longer need the drug to get acceptable numbers.

Well the Federal Reserve can just print another $8 trillion, satisfy the demand, and we can all buy loaves of bread with wheel-barrells full of $100 bills. Just like Germany pre WW II.

I sure hope things don't tank as bad as some are saying but it already seems to be going that way, and for the bastards at the top, war is the best distraction, but natural health AND!! natural living will prevail soon and eventually. We cannot live like we think we can take a supplement, and think we will be healthy in a society that by nature is on almost every level at MURDEROUS AND VIOLENT ODDS with Nature. Walker says in 2040 that the government will barely have enough money to pay the INTEREST on the debt! That means the debt will have grown, since it cant be retired under the current system, it grows EXPONENTIALLY!

Remember that the government's bonds dont require principle payments like your mortgage. When the bonds come due, they pay what they can and roll over the debt into new bonds. Perpetual interest rates and payments.

We need sound money, that we PAY NO INTEREST/TAX on.

We need a president who fights for our constitutionally given rights.

Medicare is out of control because of supplemental insurance. To many seniors go to see a doctor or a hospital for trevious reasons. ie (I have been having bad dreams) They say it costs them nothing. Without supp. ins. they would have to pay the required 20% and would cease the excessive medical bills. They would then find that supp. ins. is a ripoff anyway. I am 81 & live in a home with 200 other seniors on medicare.

As a self-employed person, I have to pay 15.3% of my income for social security benefits I won't receive and medicare benefits I won't use.
I've been working for 30 years, and will probably be working for 30 more. Thinking about that makes me sicker than anything.

Probably a good portion of the people on this forum knew this already. The people usually know before anyone in government finally admits to the problem. I have anger and frustration that this mess of debt, environmental destruction, and overpopulation will be laid on my generation and younger. I hope that karma exists.
