It's a question to Dr. Mercola: Is it safe to use water treated by Ultra Violet light bulb?

We have water conditioner, reverse osmosis and have been told that Whole House Ultra Violet water treatment will be the safest way to drink and use our water, coming from the city.

Great article on cancer and EMF's! Just knowing a little bit about kinesiology will make you very, very aware that EMF's are dangerous without protection. Computer monitors are notorious sources of electromagnetic radiation. Every time I sit at the computer I begin to feel a strange sensation on my left arm. I'm thinking of ways to shield my body from this radiation and still be able to safely read Dr. Mercola's newsletters. I'll report on it when I've found a solution. Meanwhile, sit as far away from the monitor as you can. Use the Bates method to improve your eyesight so you dont have to sit too close.(this applies to tvs as well). If need be increase the size of the fonts on the screen (View>>Text size>>Larger)

The concept of "grounding" one's body to discharge accumulated electricity can be, in my opinion, extremely helpful for improving health. The patented system described in a related link involves some sort fo conductive pad on a bed connected to a wire that leads to an "anchor" buried directly into the earth. The type of anchor is crucial.

I'd like to elucidate further on a type of effective grounding anchor that I am familiar with, having had installed these for electrical systems. Go to a Home Depot's electrical section and secure an "eight foot grounding rod" (the lenght is very important): It has a pointed end that can easily be driven into the ground with a heavy mallet. This can be done just outside your bedroom wall. The rod is driven leaving a couple of inches above ground where you attach a grounding clamp (also available at Home Depot), which secures the grounding wire which can be # 8 or # 10 bare copper (# 8 is better because it has less resistance) which is routed into the house to your bed's conductive pad, or a seat at your computer. (more on that later).

The ground system I just described is standard practise for grounding electrical panels in home wiring installations (although heavier wire is normally used): it's intended for safety in case of short circuits, but it can be readily adapted to human body grounding for health purposes. (Dr. Mercola may want to take note)

Another suggestion I'd like to offer, which doesn't require complicated installation, is to walk with bare feet on bare ground for some time during the day. The ground should be conductive and not dry. Moist ground is more conductive. For instance your could clear a spot on your yard and lay on it every morning or at night before you go to bed, to "discharge" your body. Also if you have a basement with a cement slab you might try laying on it with your bare skin making contact with the concrete: this will discharge accumulated electricity to ground. Good health !

In 1959 our 5 year old son died of leukemia.

We had lived in that house since his birth,

with a Detroit Edison transformer at the

back corner of our 50x75 ft. lot.

There were occasional media reports

then about the dangers of power lines, PCB's or some such.........

I notice radio interference when I pass a transistor radio on some AM wavelengths near my computer equipment similar to when I drive near a major power line.

I correlate radio interference within 4 feet of my 20.1" LCD monitor (turn it off & reduced interference). Sometimes it feels like there is a "correlation" between my face feeling like it is being tanned and my monitor!

I also notice radio interference passing my AM radio near my keyboard (could this be correlatied with carpal tunnel syndrome for some people? I don't have it.), mouse, printer, & computer.

Also, I seem to notice a "correlation" between slower work performance and operating a computer - of course than could be from reading so many web pages - ha!

I am sure all of these correlations are quantifiable by testing.

Causation of cellular behavior might require a bit more work.

For years the Power Companies have denied there was any link between health problems and high tension power lines. Regardless, true scientists have done the tests, and the evidence is as plain as the nose on one's face. Power lines do present a health hazard. As for our government, well let us just say they are in the dark, and paid to be so. Electro Magnetic Fields, or EMFs can cause miscarrages, low birth weights, cancers, and the like. Yet your government, our government is anything but concerned. You know like the Tobacco Industry, you cannot prove it. You cannot prove EMFs are a health hazard. We could not prove the same about smoking, could we.

In a related subject I have been wondering about wireless waves for the internet. Do you think living in a home with wireless or being in city surrounded by wireless is a problem? I don't really know how all those things work.

Living where's it's quite rural wherever I go, I always notice whenever I drive by a transmission station or under numerous power lines at once, I can feel it in my brain. And it's quite unsettling. I can't imagine living nearby.

As I type this, I think about the EMFs going through my body from this computer. These fields are everywhere and so are radio waves, high power lines, microwaves, and a whole host of other radiation-emitting devices. I suppose the best thing to do is to move into a shack in the woods where there is no electricity, but right now it is not practical, although it would work if more people were open to the idea. You can say Ben Franklin inventing electricity was a great invention, but it is only in the past few decades we see the true consequences of such a powerful technology. Is it really worth it to have so much reliance on electricity at the expense of our own health? Every second we spend at a computer, on a cell phone, listening to the radio, we are receiving this radiation. I'm willing to bet that in the next five years, I will most likely go Thoreau on everyone in live in a log cabin somewhere in the forest. I just have to make sure the forest does not have high power lines near it.
