The researchers tested breast samples from 17 breast-cancer patients who had undergone mastectomies. Normally I'm just fine... Certain foods cause me to stink more... curries, dairy products to name the most obvious ones.. I also smelled less when I was vegan, but my body was falling apart then, and I can't go back to that lifestyle.. I'm sure animal products in some way cause smell, but which ones I'm not sure (other than dairy for sure). when i eat indian food my pits smell like curry... it's no fun!!!!

see part 1

Bottom line is, smelly, wet armpits are repulsive in our culture, and certainly in my line of work. Perhaps if a person, washed their armpits every hour, this protocol would work, but who has the time for that? You know, my dad believed as you do, he bathed and used soap and water every single day. It didn't work. My mom and I BEGGED him to reconsider, but he refused, consequently we (and most people) did not enjoy being around him. Also, my dad did not live a long healthy life, he died at 62 with many other maladies aside from body odor.

Needless to say, I am puzzled as to why soap and water seems to work for you Dr. M. Perhaps it's your squeaky clean diet? In any case, you would become a world renown hero, not to mention stinking rich (pun intended) if you and a few chemists could come up with a non-toxic, antiperspirant, so we could all live on the planet, in peace, together.

I could not post this in it's entirety, (too wordy) part 2 is added

First off, I would just like to say that I am a big fan of Dr. M. and have been receiving his newsletters and following his advice for years, but I gotta tell you doc, once in a great while I have to disagree. The truth is, for most of us soap and water do NOT work just fine. I have read your opinion on this deodorant topic in several newsletters, and this time I couldn't contain myself and had to respond.

I a flight attn based in the south, and if I didn't use deodorant after my morning shower (how do I say this nicely?) I would stink before noon... In fact, if I didn't use an antiperspirant after my morning shower, my uniform would have huge wet circles under the arms. So before everyone gives me a "thumbs down" I would like to ask you, is this the kind of flight attendant you would like to see serving you? Would you think to yourself, 'now there's a healthy woman...'? Furthermore, can you imagine an airplane with 150+ passengers in the summer without any under arm protection? I even avoid certain European destinations because... well... the passengers stink, and apparently they do bathe. What a trade-off, either way the quality of your life stinks...

I found that I was able to significantly cut my overal Body Odor by keeping my body hair cut short, and my pits free of hair.

I also found that my feet odor resolved itself, when I started using a Colloidal Silver and Aloe Cream with Tea Tree for my athlete's foot fungus. This cream is a bit pricey, by a container for 10 dollars lasts for several months if you apply it sparingly, and if you alternate the treatment with Vick's Vaporub, which I discovered from a friend to be a good agent for killing athletes foot.

Finally, I find that eating raw foods in most meals and cutting back on dairy and bread and sugar improves the smell of my body, and using pro-biotics on a regular basis also seems to really improve my overall smell.

I am glad to join in this forum with my ideas. I found that drinking cows milk would make my feet and underarms stink! Cutting out milk works for me. But if you can't, I found Chlorophyll capsules (from Nature's Way) work magically for ALL body odors. Secondly, the rocks sold as alternatives to antiperspirants, many are pure alluminum rocks, so double check yours. And regarding the hyperhidrosis question, I have worked with patients suffering recurring events. I suggest weight loss, if that is a factor; sufficient Vitamin D, and most importantly Prebiotics and Probiotics daily. It is likely he (the husband in question) has been treated for hyperhidrosis with antibiotics to specifically attack natural skin flora. This creates a forward moving cycle of skin problems including occlusions and eruptions. The gut and skin are physically one continuous unit if you think about it (!), and both have detox functions that rely on a balanced ecosystem of beneficial bacteria (probiotics).

Their deodorants are safe [I don't really see them as using a deodorant], as they work due to their anti bacterial essential oils used in them like Clove,Rosemary, Lemon and Cedarwood. but they won't stop you sweat, just makes one feel better by smelling nice from the essential oils, which by using them help fight other bacteria, as what ever esp. goes under the arms ,goes straight [faster under the arms, due to the larger pores] into the blood stream.

Therefore, I fully agree with the statement..."whatever you wouldn't want to eat, don't put onto your skin".

Last summer I began to break out under my arm and this horrible painful rash appeared. I stopped using the rock and bought some baby diaper creme, which stopped the pain and rash. Later on, I tried this rock again, (thinking it may have been a common heat rash) the weather had cooled down, but still I got the rash again. I always thought the crystal rock was a good alternative, but I guess not. For I have developed some sort of reaction to it.

Now I read here that the crystal rocks are just as bad, still having some form of aluminum in them, makes perfect sense to me. I wish I had been told the truth way back when. Oh well, live and learn.

Ten years ago I tried some of the "natural" ones when I was a vegan-vegetarian. None worked, plus the sickly-sweet scents made me smell worse than ever and some burned my underarms. Now, I am retired and though very busy, decided last year to try again. I spent a small forture on many different ones and had much frustration, including that none worked more than an hour or so. One by Naturally Fresh (Deoderant Crystal) is very inexpensive, very effective--worked extremely well, but I note it has the salt "Potassium Alum". The only one without Aluminium and parabens that works for me is Kiss My Face's Liquid Rock. However, I have to wash and reapply it if I go out in the evening or shower again at night. I am almost finished with the bottle--a first since N. Fresh. Hopefully, I can continue to use it (I usually have to try something different after 2 months). OOOPS--I just looked and it has Potassium ALUM!!! Thanks to all of you for the advice on other products (Miessence and Ozonated Olive Oil)--I plan to try them. Here's to your health!!!
