If you are interested in assessing your risks of EMF exposure, you can get a guassmeter, which measures the strength of electrical fields so you can see where the problem areas in your home are. They start at $25 and go up into the thousands. A basic model will show you where the fields are and you probably don't need anything more complicated than that to make a big difference in your exposure. Knowledge is power! I also went on PubMed, which has all the medical articles online that the medical community uses. A quick search showed that a honeybee product, propolis, as well as Melatinin and Ginko Biloba prevent the oxidative stress and tissue damage caused by cellphone EMFs. Preliminary research, to be sure, but encouraging.

Also, those little EMF-wave-cancelling stick-ons that are for your cellphone showed up on a few junk-science watchdog sites, so look into them a little more carefully before you plunk down the big bucks for getting them for your phone and every electrical appliance in your house at $40 a dot.

NO Proof, no proof, no proof. Same argument the food industry uses, when talking about HFCS (High Fructose Cornsyrup), "Big Pharma's miracle pills, and Teflon cookware. When will America ever awaken.

Now it is the Cell Phone industry, using this same old tired slogan. Johnny Cochran developed, and died from brain cancer on the same side of his head where he usually held his cell phone, just above the ear.

If you have cancer, I recommend you do everything to get rid of anything unnatural in your life. that includes pharmaceuticals, all kinds of cleaning chemicals, all boxed and prepared food, and the use of cell phones. The only place I have read about cell phones not causing cancer has been on cell phone websites. We all see these truth [http://www.whudafxup.com/]commercials practically wanting to ban cigarettes but there is nothing about the use of cell phones.

if you get rid of your cell phone, you won't have to worry about radiation and a cell phone bill. the latter is enough for me NOT to have one.

ReasonRules, why the condescending attitude? If you don't care for this newsletter, don't waste your time reading it! Simple as that. I, for one, enjoy reading the newsletter and am grateful to Dr Mercola for making this valuable information so accessible. I have never felt pressured or haggled to buy any of the products on the website. If there's something I'm not interested in, I just don't read it. But I have learned a wealth of information here. Works for me!

I'm glad women can put their cell phones in their purses to keep further away from their bodies then men who have to put their phones in their pockets.

I wish my husband (who's a carpenter) could have some kind of protective device so he can carry his phone in his hip pocket and not have to worry about what it's doing to his body (like some kind of protective shield he could use). I'm surprised no scientist or inventor has come up with such a thing. Guess people don't see the need for it yet.

Another thing to worry about! Cell phone energy. If I were to protect myself from everything in this newsletter, I would not venture out of my organic bubble and eat and use only products sold at the Mercola web site. I have so much to worry about when I read this letter. There are a few items that are of interest and value, however, and one that did appear recently was that cancers are the direct result of emotional stress or trauma. This theory makes total sense, and I have felt that to be case for many years. So, in reading this newsletter, and even worst of all believing all of it, could put a tremendous amount of stress on me, therefore causing cancer. I am an electronic engineer, and have been exposed to close range high energy RF radiation since I was 16, when I used to make my own ham radio transmitters. I have been exposed to long term high power RF energies far in excess of any puny cell phone energies that are typically less than a watt. I am still alive and no cancer. if anyone should be dead, its me. I don't fall prey to the crap that is supposed to kill me and cause cancer. We are bombarded everyday with dire predictions of what will happen by doing or not doing this or that. The solution is simple, just live your life; be as productive as possible; bring others into your life that are positive and upbeat; stay away from negativity; dine out at MacD's once in awhile and enjoy life. Oh yes, I almost forgot -- talk to those special friends on your cell phone for as long as you want. Happiness in life is the best defense against illness.

We should not forget danger from the low frequencies of 60 Hz from the AC power network. It is technically feasible to gradually migrate to a power grid based on DC (with zero Hz frequency). In high voltage long distance transmission, DC is already the preferred alternative. I would like to throw the AC out from my house and only use DC electrical equipment.

Initially, I would need a DC to AC adapter for every computer, TV and other equipment but over time I guess the market would offer a DC alternative for electronic equipment. Does anyone know if there are any DC light-bulbs, vacuum cleaners, fridges, etc.?

I love Mercola's website and forum and consult it often - I was really surprised in the last newsletter to see him promoting the "Gphone." I really don't understand how you can support a cell phone in one newsletter and recommend less than five minutes a year on a cell phone in the very next newsletter. I am not accusing him of anything - I just don't understand where he is coming from on this one.

So, what does everyone think of Dr. Mercola's headset/ferrite beads precautionary approach?

I personally use them and have given them to loved ones...though they are not very user friendly (always getting tangled up I find and don't always fit the phones well). I am taking Dr. Mercola's word for it that they offer some protection...don't use mine much, but do worry about my 20-something kids use...and am constantly nagging them about using the headsets.

Any comments on the AirCom headsets/ferrite beads?

I have an Electro Magnetic Field meter and if I hold it any closer than 5 inches to the cellphone while talking and 2 inches listening to someone talking I get readings of over 2 milligauss(mG). Obviously more energy is generated while talking comapred to listening. Levels over 2 mG for prolonged periods are associated with increased health risks. The meter needs to be at least 36 inches from the microwave, 36 inches from the meter board for the house, 10 inches from a hairdryer and 8 inches from a clock radio to get levels less than 2mG. Sleeping with the meter box on the wall outside the head of your bed or a clock radio beside your head would not be recommended!

I'm confused. I thought EMR was all around us whether or not you have a cell phone to your head. I read an article in a "Grain of Salt" publication that blow dryers emitted more EMR than any other appliance in your home and it seemed like it was around 20,000 units. I remember as a child people being concerned about the radiation that was emitted from television and that you should sit so far away from it. This was back when people had only one TV in the house. Now most people have more than that. I think its like flouride in the water, some of us are more liklely to be affected by it than people with healthier genes.
