NAC can form a red blood cell-derived molecule called nitrosothiol

re: This Common Antioxidant Supplement Could Cause You Loads of Trouble

Here is an interesting analysis of this NAC toxicity report from my friend Dr Michael Gazsi, Naturopath In Danbury Ct.

Any substance in too high a dose can be toxic of course.

In this study they gave mice 10mg of NAC per ml of drinking water. a mouse drinks 5-8 mls of water a day giving them a dose of 50-80 mg per day.

since mice weigh between .38 and .77 ounces. average being .57 oz

that would be equivalent to giving a human of average weight 150 lbs or 2400oz a dose approx 4800 times this or 240,000-384,000mg a day.

Since the NAC we use to treat people is about 500mg per capsules, you would have to take 480-768 capsules a day for the three weeks to duplicate this study

below is a link to the full study.

This is what promoted the detoxification process. But, then the rest of the body was left deficient. He recommended bio-available Whey Protein (especially MA Plus) to actually cause the body to produce Glutathione. He describe it as the Master Antioxident. In that,Glutathione controls all the other anti-oxidents in the body. Bio-available Whey Protein provides th building blocks for Glutathione. It is not considered a supplement but a functional food This is because it is not a concoction or manufactured product but, a finely filtered whole food product. I personally have experienced: Leg pain alleviated in 3 days. Large bumps on all of my fingers (due to Arthritus ) disappear. Wakeup ready to go to work rather than drag myself out of bedin the morning. Wakeup without stuffy nose. and, Acid reflux totally disappear in 4 months. All these problems were eliminated in 2001 and I continue to benefit I know it's not he answer to eery problem but as Dr. Cords would say it was the "beginning of the answer to any health problem" "there is nothing that it will not help" Then you add those things that help your specific problem. Hope I can be of help to many others.

I had posted this, but seems like it did not go thru.

I want to ask Dr. Mercola or somebody in this forum that my mother has parkinsons, mild case. She is 74 years old and wants to take Dr Permutte's Brain Sustain. One of the ingredients is NAC 400 Mg a day. Somebody knows if this ingredient is safe for older people with this disorder?

Thank you

MOHAMMAD thank you for your answer.

Have a great day everyone.

Of course, too much of absolutely anything can be bad for you -- that's why it's called "too much"! Nerve impulses are electrochemical exchanges, and a mild electrical current accompanies the bone healing process, yet to much electricity is bad for you -- it's called "electrocution".

Did you know that too much perfectly healthy water is bad for you, too? As in when you can't keep your head above the surface -- It's called "drowning"!!!

So what do you call too much stuff & nonsense? "Health reports" by the Mad Morons of Modern Mainstream Media!

Another great test which will pinpoint a N-A-C deficiency is the Organic Metabolic test. It measures for metabolic acids following the "Krebb Cycle" model. It's a simple urine test and by measuring the acids left in the urine (meaning they are NOT being broken down in the body properly) can surmise that the body lacks certain amino acids and recommend the correct amount of these amino supplements. I take NAC, alpah lipoic acid, carnitine and COQ10 according to the results of this test. Amazingly, after six years of a constant wright struggle (being completely unable to metabolize fats within my system, I am back to my normal weight. It's funny because I was always thin up to age 40 or so and when the amino's depleted within my system (due to age maybe) it was as though someone was blowing me up like a baloon. My Primary care called all the symptoms that came with it (fatigue, muscle cramping, insomnia) Chronic Fatique Syndrom and told me there was nothing I could do. An Osteopathic Physician ran the metabolic acid test and we were appalled at the results! Today, after using the exact supplements as indicated by the test, I am whole again and have no lingering poor symptoms. This test costs about $400 if your insurance won't pay for it but it is well worth the health benefits. I think everyone over 40 years old shouls get it due to the normal aging process.

Too much iron thru pills can cause problems , but you aren't going to overdose on iron thru red meat . If you get your antioxidants thru food such as plenty of fruits, fresh veggies , raw cacao powder , etc . you don't have to worry about getting too many antioxidants. Also, antioxidants found in the natural state in foods can work synergistcally together .

An apple for example doesn't contain a huge amount of vitamin C , but it does contain several other flavonoid that all work together and the whole effect is much greater than the sum of the parts.
