The other old axium I have picked up from very old movies is eating a lot of sweets and pastries (read low fat diet) will make you sick. (back then they did what worked and did not worry about why it worked) I just heard in a health video that when food is cooked or pasturized you kill all the emzymes as well as any bacteria. That would explain the loss of reproduction. I know that our pancreas makes both insulin and digestive emzymes. Between the low fat diets and the cooking we must be killing our pancreases. hence the diabeties at youger and younger ages.

All makes sence to me

If you go back through our history of the foods we thought were bad and needing improvment, (sugar, butter, eggs, red meat, coconut oil, olive oil, breast milk, whole milk, etc., etc.), it seems that our "improved versions" are far worse,(aspartame, margerine, egg substitutes, soy, hydrogenated oils, baby formula, highly-processed low fat milk, etc.) I seems that the way GOD designed our food always ends up being the best way. Also, as amazing as Dr. Price was, he is not our "God Father".

I do wish, however, that he be more careful when discussing the prognosis of people as he does in this article. He says that: "if... their mouths are full of fillings and root canals, the prognosis is not as good." Someone reading this, who respects Dr. Mercola, as I do, and does have a mouth full of filling and root canals, may believe that they have little chance of getting better or even surviving. Beliefs are very, very powerful!

I believe that it's never too late to get better as long as you are alive. Someone very close to me got aggressive cancer that had spread to 8 lymph nodes at age 74. Her mouth was full of fillings and root canals... where she had any teeth left! She went to four or five different alternative doctors and followed a number of natural therapies that did not harm her immune system. She never had chemo or radiation "therapy" She did follow a healthful diet, take many, many supplements, take intravenous vitamin C and she had some bad (infected) root canals removed and cleaned as well as taking some natural antibiotics (like grapefruit seed extract) to fight the infection that the root canals had caused. This was 6 years ago and she is now a healthy 82 year old.

I hope everyone who is fighting an illness believes fully in their ability to heal and I hope that Dr. Mercola is a bit more careful and says things like: "having a mouth full of fillings and root canals requires a greater effort to undo the damage and heal."

Our limestone areas of southern Ontario have varying fertility, but a fairly consistent deficiency, one we observe when feeding cattle, is that cattle can not make enough vitamin B-12 unless they are given supplemental cobalt. We make a point to provide a cobalt enhanced salt and an iodine enhanced salt. We also lack adequate iodine, but not just for cattle.

Our veterinarian mentioned that for any animal that eats only local vegetation, they will not have enough vitamin B-12 simply because they do not get enough cobalt.

Apparently the use of cobalt in the salt is done to make sure there is enough HCL in the stomach so that the B-12 manufactured can actually be absorbed in the gut.

Would this be something that might affect human vegetarians in some areas? It is not true for cattle everywhere. Some areas have adequate to excessive levels of cobalt, but I do not know what problems excessive cobalt has. Incidentally, cattle that do not get enough cobalt can have a lot of pain as their neural systems break down.

We humans mostly just get injections of B-12 so we can ignore cobalt shortage and low HCL stomach conditions.

Cats are not people. Cats are carnivores and they kill and eat fresh raw kill. People have always cooked their meat. We were not designed by our Creator to chase down a wild boar and sink our teeth into its behind and pull it to the ground and start chewing its blood filled flesh while the animal's heart is still beating.

But whole unprocessed organic foods locally grown makes perfect sense. But don’t put this raw meat stuff on me. Some raw veggies that’s ok but I don’t have 3 stomachs like a cow so I’ll eat most of my veggies cooked. My 1 human stomach finds them a lot easier to digest when they are cooked.

I am vey happy that you and your family are healthy Vegans. That is rare. Most Vegans I have seen during my 35 year practice in Naturopathic medicine are not healthy. They are typically anemic from a lack of B12, and have exhausted adrenal glands. It would be rare, but if your entire family is truly healthy on a Vegan diet, you must all have type A blood and sympathetic-dominant nervous systems.

Many years ago, I tried eating a strict macrobiotic diet, but after six months became very weak. Why? Because as a person with type O blood, and a nervous system that is balanced between parasypathetic and sympathetic, I require animal protein in order to be healthy.

The bottom line is; we are all different in requirements of basic nutrients. Although my grandmother ate pork bacon, which I advise against, and fried eggs every morning of her life from early childhood on, she lived a very healthy 96 years. Is this because of genetics? Yes, I think so. Her husband, my grandfather, died when he was 51. He ate mostly carbohydrates and died from complications of diabetes. I, as a blood type O, cannot tolerate carbohydrates and have blood sugar problems if I over eat foods high in carbohydrates.
