Both dentists told him he gound his teeth IN THE DAYTIME! What?? He doesnt do that- (now after hearing that line of baloney, I have been watching him!) and that he has a tooth that in a few weeks WILL NEED A ROOT CANAL. Neither dentist would drill and fill NOW. They want to wait. What is that all about? We found a dentist that will use some kind of porcelain resin junk instead of amalgam, and they are charging about 75.00 MORE per filling,. (sorry FOR ALL THE CAPITAL LETTER-I AM VERY frustrated with this!!) So it seems that modern day dentist work for what? Alzheimers? Drug companies? They gave him a bag of crap after a 2 hour cleaning that hurt and made him bleed. Flouride this and that, they even recommened flouride rinses at home and in the water. The whole world is insane and the dentists in backwoods Maine are just as bad as in busy busy Phoenix. I am so glad I could rant here, sorry folks..

This same tooth had caused similar pain about 6-7 years ago and the dentist at that time said I needed a root canal but I decided to wait it out and try taking some kava kava to reduce tooth clenching because I felt it was due to biting down on it so much, making it extremely tender. He didn't agree. After about a week of taking kava kava at night the pain subsided greately and with continued good hygiene the pain went away completely so I did nothing more.

This same tooth already has a crown and I expected bad news when it started again presenting pretty severe pain. The dentist did an x-ray (I only do these when it seems absolutely necessary) and we looked at it together (digital x-ray). I simply did not see what he was trying to show me. What he said were "wide margins" indicating need for "immediate root canal" I saw as simply a tooth that had experienced some slight trauma possibly from tooth clenching, which I had been doing more as I was under some unusual stress. There was no redness, swelling, or any sign of decay or absess. Anyway, I decided then that this dentist may not be the right guy for me and he really pushed hard for an "emergency" consult with a root canal specialist (endodontist). I declined the appointment and did more research.

I decided to do the kava kava and baking soda/sea salt brushing routine instead. The pain again has gone away.

The dentist would say this is going to keep happening and the tooth "needs" a root canal. I say, with some biofeedback and stress reduction - not to mention careful hygiene and anti-acid tooth cleaning (baking soda/sea salt) a tooth in trauma can be cured.

I've also gone back to my vegetarian diet and more careful suppement routine that I had slacked off of for a while - and I stopped using mints (sugar).

I wonder how many other "root canal emergencies" could be cured?

Perhaps there is a dangerous component in the plastic that can cause these problems. We all know that NO plastic is totally safe, and with dentures, people are exposed to the plastic hours upon hours, days on end. I would like to see a study done that would enlighten us on the results of plastic exposure by the toothless.

Periodontal disease is progressive over a lifetime- it starts with carries, goes to gum disease, and then finally loss of teeth. If these people lost all of their teeth, I believe it is safe to assume that along the way they had manny cavities and many amalgum fillings for years and years. In my mind. it is just one more piece of evidence indicating that mercury is the culprit.

Decades ago, when the MD (after whom Alzheimer's disease is named) was doing the autopsies on the brains of patients who died of a peculiar dementia, science did not have the technology, the tools, by which to microscopically, biochemically determine the cause of these misshapen,"mutated," brain neurons. Now, it does and grave consideration should be given the fact "fluoride" is a bioaccumulative, protoplasmic enzyme poison which makes it mutagenic and carcinogenic.

Brushing, flossing, irrigating and rinsing should be part of our daily routine. These actions prevent bacteria between teeth from colonizing and starting cavities and gum diseases which leads to the source of inflammation in our mouth which, in turn, spread to other parts of our bodies. Healthy lifestyle and healthy diet is essential to our health, and keeping our teeth clean - yes, just as clean as possible - is the very first step that we can take and is entirely under our control. Before I read books by Dr. Robert Nara, a dentist who taught his patients to clean their teeth with amazing results in reducing cavities and without need for any dental work, I thought that cleaning teeth was just for having nice smile. Now I know that cleaning my teeth is ESSSENTIAL for my health. After I got an oral irrigator and good irrigant /to irrigate and rinse with/ I couldn't believe the difference I felt. You can find lots of simple and so useful information on a very friendly website: http://mizar5.com. Let's start making a difference in our health today!

At the age of 53 I graduated from College with a diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, making me a Mechanical Engineering Technologist. At the age of 58 I did some self-directed courses in Microsoft Word and Excel and am MOS certified with grade levels of over 93%. The fact that I do not have my own teeth may have saved me from mercury poisoning, as that is what they used to fill teeth back in the late 50s and early 60s.

I use daily vitamins to balance out my diet, and am told by my doctor that I am way too healthy for his liking. He doesn't get to see me unless I have a yearly checkup, or have something so wrong with me that I cannot deal with it in a natural way. I plan to live to be 150 as I have so many things to do and not enough time to do them right.

It is my opinion that the healthy eater and person who keeps up with the things that are happening in life, plus has healthy friends is the one who will outlive (with all their mental capacities intact) others who don't use life and all it has to offer to their best advantage.
