My question is how people can trust the the shots in any way when the very people who say they work are saying that 90 years after the 1918 pandemic that we're going to see another one. In 2009, with all the 'medical breakthroughs' flu should be the least of our worries. How could history repeat itself when we're all supposed to be immune to it after all the shots? It doesn't make sense in any way. Personally, I think that this swine flu is going to be mild and in about 1-2 years when we're not expecting it, the REAL pandemic will sweep the nation and the world. Either way, my kids and I remain vaccine free. Me for the past 20 years and my kids since birth.

I have a book by Gina kolata " Flu the Great Influenza Pandemic of 1918 and the Search for the Virus that Caused It. Lovely Person and a good speaker by the way, and One of the things was repeated by many interviews and reports from diaries etc, is that victims being unable to breath, having grey or blueish skin and a nurse remembering" that we knew the ones that had black feet weren't going to make it". What I would like to know is this, Ms Kolata sugests that there had been a similar though milder version the previous year, wouldn't a degree of imunity have developed? She does report that the people that got sick the previous year either did not catch the 1918 flu or had a very mild case of it. So now, pneumonia I can understand; is the good Dr saying on top of all this Strep? I don't believe this is it, I haven't heard of strep killing young reasonably healthy adults in 12 - 18 hours as is reported in most cases in this book, and I also can't see it nearly simultaneously everywhere in this virulence, though I suppose it's possible. I would really like Dr Mercola to elaborate a little farther. I don't believe the symtoms I've read describe MRSA either but I'm not a Doctor.

This might sound like a stupid questions - but what do I do with the oregano, if I grow it? Do you snip it's leaves and eat it in a salad? Crumble it up and put it in a capsule and swallow it? Sorry, I never use oregano for cooking, etc.

These facts are known. Some people's immune systems seemed to over-react to the virus and caused damage that killed. Some succumbed to secondary infections. It all happened very quickly during WWI when information was being censored. Even with modern medicine, we (the world) could easily be overwhelmed again. I don't think it's being an alarmist to try to understand what happened.

It makes me sad to read about the 1918 "Spanish Influenza" as my Aunt Lillian contracted it. She was a very accomplished pianist and died on her 21st birthday in a hospital. She had pneumonia in both lungs. Reading how they made the patients lie in bed and not sit up and try to cough makes me wonder, if only she had known some of the natural ways of treatment, more vitamin C and D, essential oils, etc. Perhaps breathing through a Himilayan salt pipe. So many people go the way of "modern medicine" and perish.

Another note re the coconut, search results said "Creamed coconut is a solid white block made from pure coconut and is widely used in Thai, Indian and Caribbean cooking." I have not yet found it in the Midwestern US local grocery store, but may also check an Asian or Health Food Market. Thanks all for the notes!

Well, the world health organization is run by governments. Yes...they do lie, and they are disease and fear mongering. If there's a pandemic, it'll begin with spreading it by plane...the same way they make chemtrails.

My grandmother was a bush nurse in Australia during the time of the black flu, (this entailed riding on horseback to nurse patients on remote properties). Gratis!

She and my father are now dead but I remember my father often saying that the flesh turned black and fell of the bones of those affected. As I am not a medico can anyone tell me if this is the result of a bacterial or viral infection. She contracted 'the flu' and was seriously ill, but recovered and lived to the ripe old age of 88.

And guess who currently has over $25 million worth of stock in the drug company that makes Tamiflu???? Donald Rumsfeld. Seems he was on the board of Gilead Sciences from 1988 to 2001, and was its chairman from 1997. He then left to join the Bush administration, but retained a huge shareholding . Gilead sold the drug to Roche, but Roche pays a royalty to Gilead on every single dose dispensed.

The firm made a loss in 2003, the year before concern about bird flu started. Then revenues from Tamiflu almost quadrupled, to $44.6m, helping put the company well into the black. Sales almost quadrupled again, to $161.6m last year. During this time the share price tripled. Wow. You think pure profit drives the flu pandemic frenzy? Absolutely.
