This guy is amazing! My appreciation goes out to guys like Mr. Feeney, a true class act and humanitarian. To give billions away to help people out is fantastic! We need more people to step up to the plate on this planet and do things out of the goodness of their heart and soul like this gent. So many billionaires and movie stars and wealthy people are full of greed and care nothing about others. Very sad state.

If I ever became wealthy I would probably give it all away as well- you cant take it with you when you die

Thanks for the compliment Brain Doctor. Coming from such an educated person I am honored! Honestly, I can't believe how much time you have on your hands to run a spell check on message boards, but ok. It just breaks my heart that all you saw in it was two spell checks, and not the concern in it. Supporting the man that "we the people" elected is what we are called to do. All I hear is complaining about a job that most wouldn't want. The war is over there and not on our soil, although we have a war on ours, it's just a different kind of terrorism, something our tolerence has created. Oh the humanity eh?

I am not trying to show I know the word, but live it. Jesus had righteous indignation ( money changers in the temple, priests etc). I think that people have been too tolerant for too long (have you counted the people, children, going postal lately?), for the sake of being spell check correct, oh... I mean politically correct. I have read , in the last days there would be wars and rumors of wars, turning the other cheek is taken out of context to fit ones situation. We all have planks in our eyes, but some have to be made aware they are there. Thank you for that. There was no intention of getting into a religious debate, we do win after all! As far as saying that to Jesus, I wouldn't have to, He's perfect. We are in this together, and will ALL have to stand in judgement one day to be held accountable for our choices, whether we believe or not. If I'm wrong, I would rather error on the side of Grace and a Savior.

I still stand on the truth, and the truth is that my undertone was not good and I do ask your forgiveness for that Ms Cote. I just want to see people get fired up about what really matters. Mr. Feeney doesn't want recognition for the good he does, and that is the way it's suppose to be, don't let your left hand know what your right is doing. Our reward will be much bigger than the world can ever give.

healthman, i don't think he should be bashed for selling "alcohol to drunk sailors". if these people are going to buy alcohol anyways, he's providing a great service by offering it to them without having to pay tax. i don't think people should discriminate against others, we've all had a little too much to drink here and there, and who is anyone one of us to judge another?

sounds like a wonderful person. it's really hard to believe because the more money you get the more money you need, for many people.. that's great that he's able to overcome that and be as generous as he is. it's about equity, and helping those in need when you have the power to do so. wonderful article! it's good to know that there are still somewhat pure people living in this corrupted world.

I completely agree with Healthman on this one. While this billionaire's thrifty lifestyle IS certainliy commendable, SOME of the causes that he supported, as mentioned in the article, ARE questionable. I mean, would you (and I think as a member of Dr. Mercola's community you're wise enough to distinguish between good and evil), would you applaud a certain famous billionaire whose name I shall not mention, for "charitably" contributing 50 billion dollars to global VACCINATIONS ? Giving away your money indiscriminantly is not automatically an act of kindness; supporting destructive causes is not truly philantropy. Is giving money to the "medical" and "hospital" industry REALLY contributing to human HEALTH?

(Again, I assume that you're in agreement with the issues promulgated by Dr.Mercola's website).

How can you, Ms. Cote, speak out of both sides of your mouth so blantantly? First you go to an "Impeachment Rally" with a bunch of mean-spirited people calling our President names (I had the unpleasant experience of having to wade through one just recently with my 7 year old son and had to cover his ears - very nice) carrying signs with hateful sayings and THEN you say "Imagine a world where only for the good of others or for the good of the earth were the mantra." Is an impeachment rally what you speak of as being for the good of others or are you speaking of the good of only people who do what you want them to do? Isn't President Bush a human being too? I don't particularly agree with a lot of what he does but who am I (or you) to treat another human being that way?

What an interesting and generous man. Someone said that a man's money will lie where his (or her) heart is.

Some invest in high-end cars while living in low-end properties, or charge expensive clothes and wonder how to pay for it all. And the rich, the inspirational example... so many houses... so many cars... so much to hoard... and then "death."

Each to their own when it comes to what creates an inner peace within each of us. It is probably a very rewarding experience for Mr. Feeney to help others in this capacity. He knows he has the money to use it for his own use at anytime as well. I would think he also had very loving giving parents or that Mr. Feeney is a peace with himself so that materialism doesn't mean much to him.

Hopefully the billions were given to truly help in ways that don't give greater entrenchment to the PTB (powers that be) in serving their greedy proliferation of a control over every aspect of mankind. I seriously doubt the majority of the money went to truly help those in less fortunate situations without further enslavement and dependence on the beauracracy in charge. They (the PTB) want you to forget your duty to your fellow man and rely on manipulated organizations to do good which in reality only makes matters worse. It's the same way in medicine of treating the symptom instead of the cause. Reliance on charitable foundations and government simply create a dependence on a continuation of trinkets instead of personal empowerment. Give a man a fish and feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. What is really needed is to love your neighbor as yourself...
