Less than a year ago a vaccination programme that was meant to boost the immune system of Romanian girls against HPV hit rock bottom when less than 2,6% of parents consented to having their girls exposed to this vaccine that in most cases turned out to be a scam.As we Romanians are not that stupid ,we inquired about this vaccine and found that it was merely a scam meant to fatten the bank accounts of those who promote it and manufacture it.They presented their data in a totally biased and skewed way in order to frighten parents and soften their anti -vaccination stance ,but even so an overwhelming majority decided not to vaccinate their girls and so the programme failed miserably. The authorities ,upon seeing their total failure, started a snowing campaign playing down the risks and emphasizing the lack of proper pro-vaccination campaign. They motivated their failure saying that it was too hastily organised and rushed through ,fact that scared people away. The truth, however,is that most parents had enough foresight to get information about these vaccines prior to taking their wise decision not to have their girls vaccinated against a purported disease that can best be averted if proper hygiene is being observed.

Don’t worry about what you eat, or how risky your behavior we will develop a cure for anything you encounter. If you buy into this idea then you do not subscribe to the idea of personal responsibility. If you don’t think there is a connection between our choices in life and the freedoms we enjoy then you simply do not understand the responsibilities of living in a free society. Gardasil isn’t a vaccine which prevents some HPV viruses; it is one of many false promises promoting the idea that there are no consequences for our behavior. In reality parents choosing to have their children inoculated with Gardasil, have relinquished their responsibility of teaching this lesson to their children, and society puts its stamp of approval on it as well. After-all I’m not responsible if my government and all its institutions sponsor its administration. There are consequences for our decisions, and the more we relinquish our responsibilities for our own health, and behaviors the less say we will have in a less free society in which we all live. We can blame big pharma, the FDA, or any institution we wish. The fact is we all need to take a long look in the mirror from time to time and decide for ourselves what responsibilities and freedoms we want to keep.

You can certainly have your daughter injected with this vaccine, but the fact is it doesn’t prevent nearly what it is promoted to do, and more importantly at what cost. Regardless of the fact that the HPV virus can be prevented by simple behavior, the HPV virus has only been linked to cervical cancers it has not been determined to be the actual cause. The idea by some that your daughters will be inoculated against all HPV viruses and there are many is false, and may lead many to believe that they do not need to have Pap smear screenings. The fact is even with the “inoculation” with Gardasil it does not prevent all HPV viruses. Another fact is that the number of cervical cancers has been decreasing in countries where screenings take place. So what was the rush to bring this vaccine to market? Also the proper screening of girls/women before they receive the vaccination is not being done. Gardasil is not a cure for HPV, it is a potential preventative measure, but has been shown to exacerbate symptoms of some of those with prior HPV infection.

So if 70% of about 3900 deaths a year could be prevented (say 2,700) and I suppose an additional number of cervical cancers that don't result in death would also be prevented (don't have any numbers on this), I'm not sure the vacine can be dismissed as "largely ineffective, potentially very dangerous and a major waste of money

There is a statement that there have been over 10,000 side effects noted including "29" deaths. These numbers are only from the United States and there is an implication that the FDA does not agree that all of these side effects were in fact related to Gardisal. It is clear that millions of doses of this vacine have been administered and accepting that not every side effect has been reported, it would still seem that the risk of a side effect is a very small percent indeed.

Since I have a teenage daughter, I don't think the article supports the statement at the end:

"If you are a parent considering the Gardasil vaccine for your daughter, you would likely be far better off teaching her how to keep her immune system strong and healthy -- and discussing the realities of sexually transmitted diseases and how to avoid them -- than having her injected with this worthless vaccine."

A vacine that can save 2700 lives a year and prevent some additional number of non-fatal cancers, certainly has some worth.

Merck and Gardasil were criminal to begin with. So, some shred of sanity. Spain's to be commended, even more so if they put an end to Gardasil for good. And in the end Merck gets off scot-free only to keep doing it and do it again in the future. I want them to pay dearly for what they did. The meaning behind the famous battle cry of Pharma or whoever puppet they have saying "the benefits outweigh the risks" should more appropriately be rephrased as the benefits for THEM outweigh the risks for YOU. No, I wouldn't even call it risks-that'd be too kind.

Okay, way to go Spain, This is good news, but the article has some holes. The article says a batch of nearly 76,000 doses was withdrawn, but is it because they suspect it's flawed? It doesn't say whether or not they will allow future batches to be given.
