I am NOT a vegan--I do eat animal products, just those from farms where they get to live a normal happy animal life(running around on a pasture as they are supposed to! I use Bioidentical hormones in a creme form--Tri-est which is 90% Estradial, 5 % Estrone and 5% Estriol, I am also supposed to use the Progesterone for 10 days but can only use it for about 5 as I start getting PMS symptoms. I too agree with someone who wrote that so many natural Drs are too concerned about Estrogen dominince. Many of us are low on bio-identical Estrogen but too high in Estrogen mimicing chemicals from environment or food. i am not a scientist but wonder what those of you who are, on this site think of this idea of mine: when our receptors are clogged up with the chemicals mimicing estrogen then our natural estrogen has no place to attach to thus we start having all the awful symptoms? So maybe natural estrogen is necessary even if one is estrogen dominant?I know that a healthy diet has helped me but still need some extra help. No matter how healthy we eat there are still many chemicals in our environment we cannot avoid. Also I like the creme form of hormones as I can control how much I use--I use just enough to keep my symptoms at bay. I thought it was funny(ironic) when I heard a speaker at a seminar on menopause say he preferred women to use pills or patches as he could control the amount!! some days I need more and some less--of course I am very sensitve to my body so it works for me.
Synthetic estrogens and progestins also decrease hormone receptors and can result in hormone "deficiency" symptoms and actual nutritional deficiences because of their metabolic pathways - they are the worst choice for post-surgery or peri- and post-menopausal HRT - or contraception - for so many reasons!

I've been on HRT for 7 years now and it's made a huge difference in the quality of my life. After the study in 2002, I had many, many friends tell me about the risk I was taking by using HRT. In fact my physician never uses anything but bio-identical hormones and cautions against the use of equine estrogens as do you. I've also been dismayed by the almost cavalier attitude of some physicians that every reproductive hormone problem is "estrogen dominance". This was not my case and I really suffered before I found a doc that correctly diagnosed my low estrogen problem. I continue to seek nutritional support, but with one ovary and at the age of 53, I think I might need HRT to feel optimal. Thank you. Marlee, Tucson

The mares that are used are kept confined in stalls so that their urine can be collected. On top of that, they are pregnant mares. This is obviously not a natural environment for any horse to be kept in much less a pregnant mare. Once the foal is born, if it is a male it is of no use so it is gotten rid of. The females may or may not be kept to be used in the operation. The mare is then bred again, because it is made from "pregnant mare urine" (hence the name). This produces a surplus of unwanted animals that many times end up going to slaughter.

I now take the bioidentical estrogen, but don't (yet - if ever) require progesterone or testosterone!. For those of you who understand energy work, she can also tune in to your body, so can assist you over the phone. I know, some of you will be rolling your eyes - I was skeptical 10 years ago, but so desperate to get well and out of the brain washing of the allopathic system - that I went this route. I contribute my health to her. If anyone would like her name and number, contact me privately.

I thought to myself by the time I get that old they will have better stuff out than HRT? DHA! So I new I would never go down that road and as I became a health practitioner in alternative treatment that is what I looked for and at the age of 55 BOOM! it hit me now at 61 I have just found out I have Hashimoto's disease I thought i was having hot flushes due to menopause and I new they where lingering to long I should have been well over it by now it turns out it's my thyroid blood tests saliva tests had em all why do doctors not test the thyroid more often its a known fact women after the age of 55 suffer from low thyroid and they don't know they have it! its always put down to menopause. The key is to get the t4 and t3 tested since being diagnosed it's like I have a new lease on life and I'm not going mad I am not on medication eather just supplement and good food and exercise which i have been doing for years yet the last 2 years getting more and more low energy lethargy and whole lot of other symptoms and Doctor after doctor test after test kept saying menopause until one lady Doctor who is a nutritionist and takes 1 hour appointments said lets get your thyroid checked. So it will take awhile I have been taking my special thyroid supplements now for 6 weeks hot sweats have been reduced by 1/4 and memory and energies is slowly coming back feeling heaps better.

Janet Australia... ITS NOT ALWAYS MENOPAUSE!!
