Statins no longer part of my regime although I did have a scare when my Thyroid went out of control (amiodarone) but that seems to have corrected its self as I reduced broccol and brussel sprouts. My diet is largely vegetables and fruit with some whey protein and minimal caffeine.

My weight has stabilised at 168 lbs and proving difficult to make further reductions (although my weight overall has dropped by 20%).

When I initially had a heart attack I was put on warfarin (a vitamin K antagonist) which controls coagulation time and minimises strokes but is a significant contributor to arterial plaque, reviewing vitamin k2 to see if it would make a difference or better still stop warfarin.

In April '06 I had a double lung transplant. I take take two meds that the side effect is diabetes. I was very healthy at age 61 that I was oked for the transplant. I have given up the "white" foods plus I pretty well know which foods to stay clear of. I do go by the list of low glycemic foods, but I'm not perfect - yet! Ha! I also exercise at least 5/6 days a week which includes walking approimately 2 miles (45 min) and/or working 2 hours gardening. I do take one pill a day, but I don't think it brings down the blood sugar enough. My fasting each morning is approx. 111 -125. I found out this week to have a snack at 10 pm that it stays under 120. Also I carry no extra weight (5'6" at 118). I find it difficult to find receipes - do you have ideas? I always welcome help.

Good luck to all of you who have this condition. From what I have read here you are all unique and the same foods do not effect everyone the same way. It is a trial and error and the checking of the blood

my boyfriends mother has gone down a spiral since I've known her for six years. I try to tell her about making herself feel better but but she doesn't listen, she only listens to the doctors. Over a year ago they told her they needed to cut her thyroid out. Her favorite thing was to sing...but now she will never be able to do that again because they cut one of her voice muscles(which they admitted to just recently). She has vertigo everyday since the surgery. I wouldn't even know how to heal her now that an important body part is taken out.

I could hear her lack of confidence for the doctors when she said "they don't know what's wrong with me and how to get rid of this vertigo". I know it has to do with the lack of thyroid or the medication, but the doctors wont fess up that they screwed her up!

But then again I can't really feel sorry for her when I see bottles of tampico, soda, yogurt, and candy by her bed side(since that's were she spends 80% of her time) that's how she "elevates her blood sugar". She also eats white rice just about everyday. Some people you just cannot help unfortunately :(

Blood pressure is down from 160/90 to 105/65 my cholesterol is down and have now been given an honorable discharge from my diabetic clinic with an HbA1c running at just below 6. My travel insurance has dropped as I am now considered a member of the ever increasing non-diabetic club. My transformation from 90 units a day to zero took six months but believe it could have been faster if I had been aware that it was possible.

What I am happy about is the fact anyone, anyone at all can make these changes and begin to life a longer, more carefree life. In my life, My Mother's Father, my Mother, and my Father were all victims of this Malady, Diabetes. I longed for a means of taking them off these medications, as a direct result, each of their lives were shortened. It has only been in the last ten years or so that rumors have begun to surface that indeed there was a cure.

Work though it may be, the end result is no more amputated feet, and legs. No more tethers called Insulin in a bottle. The world will have a time getting the true story to take off and run, but the hard work seems to lie ahead. Four billion dollars a day worldwide is not something "Big Pharma" is willing to let go of easily.

Dr, Mercola keep up the good work. With this deception exposed, how many more deception are there in the medical field that may be are revelent to the true good life. As for me I believe in at least 85% raw fruits, vegetable, whole grains, and nuts diet. May sound dull, but it works.
