Thank goodness that we are seeing young professionals waking up to the old tricks of our AMA and the pharmaceuticals company greed. One of the worst epidemics is the fear of cholesterol that they have managed to instill in almost all of the american population. I will not rest until I see that SCAM investigated and corrected. The side effects of those drugs to lower cholesterol can damage our arteries and then we are certainly in DANGER!!! Countless livers are damaged in the process and stomach problems abound. I was once prescribed medication ( I believe it was Lipitor ) because I had 450 cholesterol in my lab exams and 650 triglycerides also. The pain and acid reflux started inmediately after taking those horrid pills but I was threatened by the doctor that I would die if I did not continue to take it. That was 30 years ago. I only used the stuff for three days and threw them out. I am still alive at age 68 and my heart and coronaries are fine, thank you. I stopped seeing that doctor and years later another doctor tried to give me those pills again and I refused. Then one day he revealed the truth to me. The drug company was offering him trips to Disney for him and his children in exchange for prescribing the drug!!! I would never have gone back to him but thanks to his honest confession I decided to continue to do so.

I have lived with wretched cholesterol levels all of my life and as I said, am doing fine. My Mom had the same situation, took no drugs to lower her levels and lived to see 93 years of age!! By the way, she did not die from heart disease. She died from cervical cancer.

I have been terrotized 30+ years by consenting to drugs given my son ...to keep a place in a group home...I want him out but he would need drug rehab !! I can't find. Rehab Center that addresses Autism; Rehabs are for only people who cause their own habit not when D Doctors do it to someone from day one.!!

My son was born a healthy baby...our first ...we trusted Doctors ! Their shots gave him Autism and ruined his and his family's lives. 40 years! I still fight to keep him alive and well! How many Americans in nursing and group homes are maimed murdered... ditto babies...by AMA /Big Pharma every day? How do doctors and nurses sleep at night?

Yes, Change is on the way, and the sooner the better. people do not need drugs. I have been saying this for years and demonstrating this first as an acupuncturist, and now as a Hypnotherapist. Humans have within our brains all the capability to heal oursleves. We do not need any drug or anyone to heal us. We simply need guidance and other natural healing tools. There are so many natural healing tools available. I think it is about time that people woke up, and get rid of these corrupt medical systems that has been programming us to think we need them. The fact is, these companies need us and they are programming us everyday to make sure we stay addicted to some type of drug. The longer the person stays on a drug the longer they are cut off from direct communication with God. You cannot find God, if you are on drugs, the mind is not designed for drugs. You have the Pineal Gland which is your direct link to God. So get yourself off drugs as quickly as you can.

Doctors don't need BigPharma to tarnish and already tarnished image. I view MD's and DO's as a last resort and have a naturopath as my primary care physician. I have an MD on retainer for emergencies ONLY!!! So many doctors are ready to swallow the BigPharma BS and tow the pill-pushing line. A few years ago, my mother's MD said to her, and I quote, "better living through chemistry." After evaluating my mother's personal "drug store" I promptly made her change doctors. As a registered nurse trying to function in a dysfunctional paradigm, I'm fed up with being told what to do with my clients. I'm making a shift, one that I've been doing for several years, and will soon be in my own alternative health practice, leaving the world of allopathy far behind me, and never looking back.

Don't forget that psychiatrists are also MDs (so they can prescribe drugs) and they prescribe some of the most dangerous drugs around psychotropic -- i.e, mind changing. These drugs blur the line between reality and fantasy, and almost destroy the abiility to reason, so that almost any kind of action can be justified, -- Columbine,Virginia Tech, thatj post office shoot up, and on and on.. When you read or see on TV one of these incidents, note that the press NEVER ask Was this person under psychiatric care or psycology or social worker counseling, were they taking psychotropic drugs, prescribed or not prescribed? I can't say it's a 100% correlation, but from what I know of how these drugs work (experience of friends and acquaintances, and much reading), I would bet it's over 90%. I've met one or two people who say they have been helped, and I'm sure they're right in the very short term, but I wonder for how long and how big a blow up it will be when it comes. I've had a very dear friend who told me of taking psychotropic drugs (I don't remember which), and she was in tears because she could not write any more -- she was a terrific writer of satirical musical plays, with a collaborator. I was in one of those wonderful productions, very off, off, off Broadway. She was told she needed these drugs to help calm her and control her heart problem. But they destroyed her creative abilities, and she died soon after our convrsation. I believe she just gave up. Being an artist was not what she did, it was what she was. So there's more to this drug stuff than just "treating" physical conditions. Be warned, be observant, and speak up loud and long when you see something like this happening. Gaye Leslie

Medical Students should ask their professors why they are not being taught that we are not being born with a deficiency of statins, or antihistamines and in many cases insulin?

Doctors Dice and Daniel at Stanford Medical School proved that insulin could in some cases be replaced with vitamin C. (Dr. Dice was a lifelong diabetic)

Alan Clemetson proved that antihistamines could be replace with vitamin C.

Dr. Emil Ginter proved that cholesterol could be controlled by - yes - vitamin C.

Cardilogist Dr. Matthias Rath M.D. (Worked with Linius Pauling) proved that Lipoprotein Alpha can be controlled by - yes - vitamin C.

and I myself proved that arterial disease is reversible over a period of 11 years and still improving - using CardioRetinometry - monitored

It's NOT ONLY a matter of INFLUENCING individual physicians' prescribing habits but also one of defining standard treatment protocols that insurance companies and government-overseen healthcare programs and medical boards REQUIRE physicians to follow at the risk of losing their licenses (sorry for shouting).

P.S. ("In the 19th century, most Americans thrived..."): it's OK to say "throve"; that would be another of those things not everyone knows, but it's nowhere near as important as knowing where your doctor's head is at, is it? Peace, and thanks for so many good articles!

Dr Mercola, I just finished my bio. Why are RN's not considered practitioners in your list of practitioners? Nurses are the ones that have the most contact with patients in the health care system that exists, however, they are almost invisible to most of our society. We need to look at nursing schools and how they are influenced by Pharm also to address the whole of the problem we face in our modern system. The pharmaceudical companies have been buying off the nurses also with fancy dinners and little gifts since I have come into this field.

I am not a novice either and would like to know how I can change this label.

So what's new? This has been standard practice for many years. My sister-in-law, a former drug rep, now pharmacist, said the drug cos' motto is "Womb to tomb, a customer for life.' They get you when you're pregnant w/an unnecessary flu shot, which causes neurological damage to the baby, and then a hepB shot, when the baby is born. This way, they can conveniently say, when your chld is diagnosed at 18 mos. w/autism, ADHD, or other neurological disorders, that it was a 'genetic predisposition'... This then avoids the obvious cause and effect when you actually see your baby being inoculated w/5-7 shots in one day, which parents allow, unbelievably! Your doctor is not God, and you, as the baby's primary caregiver are the one to call the shots, so to speak. In 2007, over $91 million was compensated to vaccine-damaged individuals. Close to $2 billion since '86, when Congress enacted the Vaccine Injury Compensation Act to indemnify (protect) drug cos. from the numerous lawsuits which were being filed for DTP vaccine damage. This is just the tip of the iceberg as less than 8% of vaccine reactions are reported. It's estimated that over 1 million individuals, just in the U.S., are damaged each year by vaccines. www.nvic.org

If parents and doctors, who do NOT do the bidding of the drug cos., were to fill the hearing rooms when a vaccine or drug bill is introduced, instead of the usual pharma lobbyists and reps, legislation might be changed in favor of a patient's rights to determine what is best for them. Educate yourself in the ways of health and you won't be a victim of the quick-fix Russian Roulette way of business the drug cos. adhere to. It always amazes me when I hear the drug ads w/their never-ending list of side-effects. The only side-effect missing is 'death', which has been the case w/many drugs over the years, i.e., Vioxx, whereby 55,000 people died, the Gardasil vaccine w/over 40 girls who have died and 11,000+ side effects, the flu vaccine, etc.

The Health Care Mess is not going to be cleaned up by medical students. It will be cleaned up by society becoming conscious that real healing is affordable so they no longer need insurrance. This will come to light when people really understand that a pill or a proceedure is not healing but only treats symptoms which leaves us open to other things like side-effects that are worse then the original complaint. Then the realization that we, each person, are responsible for our own healing and that we must stop doing what makes us sick will come about because the majority of people will go to Dr. Mercola's site for information. And then we will realize that true healing is affordable because it is through nutrition and herbs that Monsanto does not want us to grow. And then we will understand that doctors are not healers unless they have done their own healing of themselves and we will stop going to doctors who are killing people. Then the doctors will realize that everything has an affordable cure, even cancer and diabetes, by reading Dr. Mercola's wellness site while doing their own healing. Then the moto "Do No Harm" that is the medical prctitioners moto, will mean something again and it will be because of Dr Mercola's daring and courageous outpouring of information to open people's eyes, including Doctors and nurses, to the truth about healing.
