None of us are "out of the woods" as long as we are still breathing, and it could very well be you that collapses one day in spite of your "healthier diet".

What we have habitually/traditionally learned, is false, regarding what meals should look like from the food pyramid. We know that from Dr Mercola! (Dr Hinohara's cookies are probably sesame seed cookies that provide his grain for the day not Oreos!) Diet is an indivitual thing and driven by intuition and common sense and culture. Diet fuels your lifestyle and lifestyle determines diet. If you have a lower frequency lifestyle you will eat lower frequency foods and drink lower frequency drink. Dr. Hinohara stresses eating more beauty, more fun, more fullfillment and less food. Do what you love to do! Live life to the fullest! In our culture we are constantly trying to stay ahead of toxins and most of those are related to stress: physical, spiritual, emotional and mental stress caused by being, and doing things we don't like being and doing and the processed food we eat. If we did things that were in harmony with us, instead of what we have been obligated by traditional values and marketing campaigns, to do, we might laugh more, be happier, have much more fun, and cultivate a much more exciting life based on the things which are truly valuable. (like good relationships with ourselves and others, creating beauti and love and life instead of money.) We would be more likely to be attracted to foods that are in harmony with us and we would thrive in our lives and not need pills and adictions to create the illusion of happiness. That is my understanding from my healing journey thus far. I like Dr Hinohara and his wisdom and I am going to implement some of his suggestions. I need to know what kind of cookies he eats first:)

I feel OH so much better. When I am jumping out of my skin with excitement or despair it can only lead to exhaustion. If I indulge myself in excesses it is a burden to me. If I have a cookie or two now and then I feel no ill effect. If I follow the bad animal and eat the whole plate I am in trouble. I also thrive on sunshine. I always have. I often get depressed in winter but soon as the sun comes out and I spend some time in it I am restored.

I grew up in a toxic environment. Think SUPER FUND SITE, heavy metals, solvents. Think stressed out screaming mother who took her anger out on me. Think wonder bread with margarine and bacon for a breakfast sandwich. Father ate more sugar than anyone...and mom was worse, and us kids weren't far behind. Think physical injuries to basic structure that were never addressed. Think toxic hepatitis. I have not had a job hardly ever. I had migraines apon migraines 'pon migraines. Think poverty and a beautiiful teenage daughter going to her prom from her home in a tent. Studying for a massage license by the dome light in car. Not getting license because too ill to continue. My son's kidneys failed, most likely due to both parents grew up in same toxic area. Lived in my car for years and was alone and sick in bed for 7 years, often sleeping out on a backcountry mountain road. Yet I am at least as well as most folks I know. I have strong faith in a higher power. I depend on the guidance from within to lead me on the right path. When I listen I prosper. When I don't I suffer. This guidance is there for me in every breath, every step, every moment. I often forget this and try to lead my life on my own. It doesn't work. I fall flat on my face everytime. It will be interesting to see how long I live. I am not attached to living long but to living well and hope to get past this day to day survival to thrive & prosper. Look out world!

Seaton predicted that if people had good hygiene all theie lives they can avoid alzheimers disease. Today in Japan Alzheimer's is rare, even in the very elderly.

I think that eating healthfully and exercise should be as natural and enjoyable, and be effortless. However, if you put too many rules on what you can and cannot eat, what you should and should not do, it becomes more like a chore and it falls by the wayside.

This is why I practice yoga and walk as many times a week as I can squeeze in. Both of these activities feel "good" and help me feel more calm and centered in this crazy world we live in.

I thrive on keeping my mind active and love puzzles and tinkering with technology - learning new things helps the brain stay young.

The folks who lived the longest in my family ate the foods they liked, just not in huge quantities. They got regular exercise, quit smoking at an early age (they were from another generation, before we knew how awful it was), drank red wine, stayed up late playing card or hanging out with friends and family, took vacations, and always had plenty of laughter in their lives.

Living a joyful, stable life and not "worrying" too much HAS to be one of the easiest and least expensive aide to longevity that we can obtain.

This is so often overlooked when people seek answers for whey they don't "feel better". Just let go, and let God (or detach from attachment, etc.every spiritual practice has some path to achieve inner peace)

He enjoyed keeping up with current events too. He also was a big vodka drinker and smoked cigars daily. He never at anything fried and disliked sweets. My point is the same as Dr. Hinohoara's......Great Grandpa ate what he intuitively thought was best, he stayed active, he had purpose, he had fun, kept his mind active as well, and didn't take incredible set-backs to heart. He simply moved forward. Yes, you can watch every bite you put into your mouth, but that is fearing death and not living life. Attitude is so much, and so is common sense. Loved the article....thanks.
