One of the substances used to make plastics softer in the automotive industry is mercury and i am wondering if it is also used to soften the flooring products as they are chemically similar. Women of childbearing age and children spend a large amount of time in kitchen areas which are often floored with vinyl products. Children are often on the floor itself. This combined with the fastidious maintenance usually performed by parents when children spend time on the floor could enhance off-gassing of mercury compounds amongst other toxins. This off-gassing of mercury from plastics is documented in regard to new automobiles. And, to add insult to injury, mercury off-gassing will be higher when a floor or automobile for that matter is new which is a common occurrence with "new" families. Combine this with the lower functionality of the body's natural ability to cleanse itself of toxins due to our pitiful diet and other chemical damages inflicted upon children and we see a result similar to that which afflicted the Amish children in Pennsylvania who although not vaccinated absorbed mercury through pollution and suffered autism spectrum disorders. They do say that the air in the modern home is more polluted.

I would rather put the blame where it belongs.. the drugs our kids are given in the lie of safety and disease (more like we want more money and life long patients for even more money.).. Vinyl floors may not be good, but lets get real, everyone knows it's the numerous vaccines..

remember lead paint was supposed to make you retarded.. ya if you eat mounds of it.. We grew up with lead paint, asbestos and many other carcinogens, and you want to place the blame on Vinyl floors.. You sure you don't work for the drug companies..

to minimize exposure to toxins, older mothers should think twice about breast feeding..While it helps tht they child avoids a plastic baby bottle the amount of toxins in older mothers due to their exposure to industrial and household chemicals is often so high as to outweigh the benefits...The book "Our Stolen Future" talks about this .

women should plan the gestation for summer and spring months or move to the south for the nine month period.

I'm glad this study mentions smoking as a possible factor. There was a Swedish study from 2002 that found that smoking during pregnancy could increases the chance that the baby could have autism by 40%. Also, a study in Greenland found a correlation between smoking by the pregnant mother and concentrations of heavy metals in newborns. Also, what about second hand smoke for a young child. And the children of smokers who may store these metals/toxins then themselves have children, passing these toxins on to the fetus. Cadmium, arsenic, benzene, formaldahyde, nitrosamines, etc etc etc.

NAET is an allergy elimination technique through accupressure/accupuncture. Look up books on it to get honest reviews as well as the website naet.com. It worked wonders on me for chronic hives & rashes but I took my then 7 yo son for ADHD and I don't think I notiiced much of a difference. I still highly recommend it if you got the money to give it a try. At about $75 a treatment, it wasn't cheap but I couldn't live my life like that.

Ah.....not totally surprised.

Nor am I totally surprised when there are more health problems in a house with carpets made from nylon/synthetic fibres.

Like mercury amalgam fillings, these compounds are supposed to be (or we expect them to be) chemically inert - but do gradually break down and do release particles and gases. And at the crawling stage a baby spends a lot of time on the floor.

And it will not surprise me if mortality rates from the recent 'Swine Flu' are linked to GM food ingestion. Yet another unnatural compound unwittingly absorbed into the body. We were not built to deal with these compounds in our bodies.

NAET is Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Techinique. Developed by Dr. Nambudripad, who had a number of illnesses as a child, she developed the program to eliminate allergies and allergans. We have been doing it on and off for the last few years as well - the practioner we go to has had very good success with autism. www.naet.com

There is actually a newer program, developed by someone who apparantly worked with Dr. N and NAET for years - while I've forgotten the name of the new program, it's described as "NAET on steroids." NAET also another therapy called BioSet is what seems to be a magical treatment of clearing allergies without drugs. It is partially based on kenisiology. This is used to detemine if there is sensitivity to a specific food item, material, plant, etc. Once items are identified, you simply hold a vial or vials of the remedy in youi hand for approximately 30 minutes and for all intents and purposes, you are cleared. There is a little more to it as in possibly waiting a few days after the clearning before injesting the allergen or using or wearing the product. It really seems like magic but perhaps Dr. Mercola can explain it. I do know, I have been allergic to vitamin C , oranges, grapefruit, tomatoes, etc in any quantity. I would have a reaction every time I ate them. 3 days after clearing, I eat a grapefruit a day along with oranges, wine, tomatoes and have not had a reaction in years. They do say at times it is possible to need to be treated again years down the road. I really don't know how it works, but it works. I think this is a far better alternative to people to get shots or take meds every day.

I raised 4 boys in the same house over the period of nearly 30 years. The only thing that changed was that the youngest son received more than twice the number of vaccines that his brothers did. Only the youngest got autism, which presented itself after shots, got worse after boosters and more shots. No shots now for the past 11 years and he is nearly recovered. Vinyl floor and shower curtains were replaced years before he was born. There will always be scientists looking to distract from the fact that mercury in vaccines is at least in part or had a major part of this autism epidemic.
