the vaccine you recieve this year is a best guess estimate on what strain will come out this year, so it is worthless to get a Flu shot, because it is for a different strain because they have not guesssed right yet.

My sister is a mother of three and is not sure whether to give her 12,10, and 4 year old very healthy children a flu shot at her doctors advice. She happened to get the "flu" per her doctor last year and did not get a shot and feels she may prevent it this year by getting a shot. She does not exercise, burns the candle at both ends, and is surrounded by 5th graders all day as a teacher, and does not watch sugars and processed foods in her or her families diet. My sister does not believe that there is any mercury still in any vaccines because they now claim to be mercury free. How can I give her evidence that the medical field is brainwashed to believing the CDC in this information. She feels all of the natural information I give her is "out there" and not accepted by more "modern" medicine. Her husband is an eye doctor and is brainwashed in "modern" medicine. Also, I feel that a lot of the research that I read on the mercola site is Canadian or European, is all of this research also accurate in the United States???

Also, I am a medical transcriptionist and I cannot believe how many times I hear the doctor advise flu shots and pneumoccocal vaccines to every patient. I want to slip all of the doctors a little bit of evidence against it .....as well as alternatives to the many, many, many drugs they prescribe. If one doesn't work, try another.....side effects.....then try another. I actually heard one patient ask about alternative/ natural alternatives, and the doctor told the patient he would not advise that. Just lack of knowledge and fear of the unknown on the doctors part, sad!!

This sit is very interesting. I have to say that if the challenge for an MD drink or be injected with a body-weight adjusted dose of vaccine additives still stands in three years I will take you up on it. Not because I think the preservatives are entirely benign but because I am in Med School and it is crazy expensive. Still, I'd rather deal with a known risk of preservatives than the unknown risk of a live contaminant. One caveat: I will only take what is actually in a vaccine, not the random stuff "Dr." Mercola and some of you others claim is in there. I may not have an MD yet, but I do have a Masters in Molecular Biology and I know Bovine Serum Albumin from Cow Blood. And if you check the list from the CDC you will see there are NO vaccines with ethylene glycol in them. I'm not saying all vaccines are necessary, perfectly effective and safe (I have delayed some for my child) but I am saying that they have reshaped our wold for the better. I, for one, am glad my neighbor won't get polio or smallpox.

Hello,

It's only been within the last year that I have discovered how harmful vaccinations of any kind are. Now I strongly regret having vaccinated my children (although they are only 2 and 3, and my 2 year old only received up to 12 month.) I have no intention of ever updating any more vaccinations. I feel so awful for putting that poison into their bodies, and I wonder if there is any way at all to reverse some of the harm. We have since turned our diet and lifestyle around, but I hate to think that I have done permanent harm to their little bodies. If any of you have any information, it would be much appreciated. I do not recommend the flu vaccine! I had a terrible reaction to one in the past. It triggered an autoimmune disease to develop (myositis). I have been struggling with compromised health ever since.

By following Dr. Mercola's advice, I have been able to regain much of my health. Food is strong medicine along with stress management (EFT, meditation, etc.). Be your own health advocate and ask your doctor tons of questons.

I strongly urge everyone to do the research before deciding to innoculate yourself or someone you love with vaccines. A great alternative to traditional vaccines are homeopathic ones. They work along the same lines but are not filled with dangerous preservatives (mercury, aluminum) that destroy your immune system.

Always thought that flu vaccines were bogus. I had to get a flu shot every year from my uncle when I was young. He was our family doctor. Never failed - I always got the flu. I haven't had a flu shot in over 30 years and I almost never, ever get the flu. My husband had to get a flu shot from the USN when the swine flu shots were mandatory (1976) and in 30 years of marriage I have never seen him sicker. I thought he would die. Never again did he get a flu shot. Any flu he gets is mild at most. No shots for us!

We use elderberry concentrate--it has been shown to prevent flu and/or lessen symptoms. Of course, diet, excercise and hand washing are good ideas too! I also make a spray with essential oils that are known to be ant-bacterial and anti-viral.

I do not trust "Big Pharma," nor my government enough to go that route. I say learn to be furgal about hand washing, and teach your children the same. I know when I see grown ups leaving the restroom without washing their hands, it is no wonder there is so much preventable illness.

I have a 4 year old little boy who was given the FluMist vaccine just 2 weeks ago. He had a severe allergic reaction with flu symptoms and horrible hives. He was so miserable for 3 days and nights with hives from his scalp down to his toes. His entire body was swollen, whelped and blood red! I cried for hours the first night because nothing I tried worked to give him any relief. He vomited and ran fever along with the hives. It really scared me! Even his pediatrician was horrified when he saw him. He said he was going to file an "adverse reaction" report and I'm making sure he follows thru. He put my son on Prednisolone which has a mile long list of side effects. One of the side effects is bone pain and on the 3rd day of taking this "drug" he developed horrible aches in his knees, fingers and feet. I immediately took him off the drug and visited our local health food store. What I received from this store helped him more than anything else. I urge other moms to strongly consider the possible allergic reaction which we were never told about. He isn't allergic to eggs which is asked prior to administering the FluMist. So, the reaction came from something else which we will never find out because we'll never do it again!!! I've had a terrible guilty conscious since putting my son through this. I just hope and pray that nothing else pops up later in his life from this vaccine. Maybe this comment will help other moms make the smart decision before taking this risk with their childrens' health.

I read somewhere that the CDC warns that 1mcg of mercury is the limit for the body; yet each flu shot contains 7mcg of merc. Can someone

out there confirm this?

Well ya know they do the flu shots in grocery stores, and etc., well last year it blew me away when i saw a drive thru flu clinic, you did not have to get out of the car, but this year with a child in high school .

I am fighting the high school , with the health department bringing in the flu shots during school hours to do a flu shot clinic to the public.

THere was no notice sent home , i happen to be at P.T. conferences and saw the note taped to the table. If it was not for that i would of never known. We'll with contacting the school , there comments were , we have done it for years with no complaints, you can not catch the flu by being by someone who just had the shot. anyone got any suggestions ? i have less than 1 week to fight this battle .

my physician pointed out to me that another thing to consider is that most of the respiratory illnesses picked up during the winter are not influenza, but colds, some of which can be quite nasty. The flu vaccine has no effect against these diseases.
